I've made several of the Vogue repro patterns and I'm just so-so about them. I know some gals really love them, but I'm on the fence. I actually lean more towards not liking them. I found the instructions to be overly complicated and the fit strange. They also add a lot of ease to the...
There's a couple on this site that might work. Looks to me that the bodice is less full and the sleeve shorter than you'll get with an authentic vintage pattern. That is a seriously adorable dress!

Actually, Audrey was really insecure about her weight. When she first started in the 50s curves were IN. Edith Head didn't help her- thinking she was too scrawny and wanting to cover up her decollete because she thought she was too bony. Thank goodness for Givency. Shows what good clothes...
Godiva or Ghirardelli and mixed with whole milk. Sounds good now, actually. It took a little time- maybe over a month or so to see a difference. Can't hurt to try, anyways!
I think it was the reprint of this book I read it in initially- Better than Beauty
I dealt with being underweight for most of my life, so this is interesting to me as well.
One 30s book I read recommended drinking a cup of hot cocoa at night before bed. I actually tried it and it worked. Tastes good, too, if you get a yummy brand. :D
Ditto what inky says.
Not sure if it would help or detract, but sometimes I find wearing a belt takes the focus away from other areas. Not, like, a white belt, but a darker color one. [huh]
I just wrote a super long reply with links and everything and then lost it! ARG!
Basically, I've gotten so used to using vintage patterns that I tend to think that most modern repros give you more trouble than it's worth with fitting and ease- and they change the fit a lot so it's not always on...
Love both of these looks! Cute!!
I had a pair of these made for my from Jitterbuggin on Etsy. Kim is so sweet. I sent her my specs and she totally worked with me on what I wanted (shortened the crotch and made them custom to my measurements). They fit like a dream. Sometimes it's great to...
I also started with costuming- actually hand sewing doll dresses, then costuming, so I guess if I count from when I was little it's been about 20 years, but the last 10 or so pretty regularly. I would agree with Kamikat- that there is ALWAYS something new to learn. It's pretty much an ongoing...
I generally use the archival plastic protector sheets for comic books, but for my repro patterns I buy larger zip log baggies- big enough to hold 8.5x11 printouts. Plus to those, like Kamikat says, is that you can keep your buttons, fabric swatches, etc together with the pattern- but for...
Hey all,
Just curious if anyone has ever ordered from this site?

And if so, how was it? I'm looking for a copy of These Glamour Girls from 1939 and I see they have it where I haven't been able to locate it elsewhere, but since it's not really set up like the...
Some hats were worn at night, but most often it was something along the lines of a feather, veil, flower, etc. I have one hat from the earlier 30s that's a gold lame evening hat, but for the most part hats were not a popular evening accessory, other than the early to mid 30s and then again in...
