Ditto what everyone says. I think we all make mistakes! We're not robots! I can't sew late at night either- even if my body feels awake my brain often times isn't all there. Very true! And I forgot to mention that the Victorians had their "interpretations". They'd often make over lots of things (including old castles!) to meet their ideals. Funny folks, the Victorians ;) I've seen some dresses on Ebay like the ones you've mentioned. 18th century gowns that...- Lauren

I think about this a lot, too. And I wonder if I would have dressed in Victorian clothing in the 1930s, etc. Can you imagine what the charity shops had back then?? :eek: I'm sure there *were* small groups of people who took up aesthetic dress. Rockabilly Clothes
Sometimes you can get lucky in thrift shops and pick up very "retro" sun dresses. There's a lot of dresses made in the 80s that have a 50s vibe. I've got a couple I wear all the time in summer and picked up for under $8 a piece. Just become familiar with styles and keep your eyes peeled...- Lauren

Cici, Since you're slim I think you could wear the stripe any which way. I love playing with stripes! Two of my favorite things to do are to cut patch pockets on the bias, or cut a skirt on the bias with a matching "V" in front. I've done that with blouses with a center front seam, too.
