Very nice, monbla. The Bushman doesn't get much representation around here.
Technically though, the R.M IS a Campdraft. And I do agree the "signature" crease is great, but what Rodkins did looks good, too.

Okay, I knew they made [or did make?] both wool and fur versions of some of their hats.
Well, quite a few hatters use both rabbit and beaver felts. It boils down to price, some want [or can afford] beaver while others [like myself] are satisfied with rabbit [or can only afford rabbit]. But...
Gotcha... the Raider.net is okay for movie related info, but their prop/wardrobe sections are usually ill-informed at best. And you're welcome on the IndyGear link, I learned more than I'll ever remember on that site.

+1!
You've got some very enviable hats there, Mike! I'd like to find an R.M someday. I narrowly missed one on eBay back in the spring, I like the bash they put in them, though a mid brown Campdraft would do the same thing.
I really like Akubra's Heritage felt, it offers some of the best value for money spent out there. In terms of factory hats, I'd have to say that Akubras in general [Heritage AND Imperial] are among the best out there.
A few days ago, I had the chance to handle a modern Stetson felt, a...
Thanks for the artist's history, Nik Taylor. I found that interesting. I somewhat recognized the name from the first illustration, but didn't take time to google him.

Interesting about duty and such. I've never had to pay any from my Australian packages, and the senders haven't marked as "gift" every time, either. It, I'd guess varies by country, though.
Interesting find, Jimmy. It's neat that they were advertising "sun hats" back then.

P.S the treatment on hat in the lower right corner of the original advert is really cool looking... "With hand punched pinches!"
I personally think the way Borsalino now puts their logo on the ribbons cheapens them considerably. If it were a removable tab like Stetson has, it'd be more ideal, but being incorporated into the bow knot is just a bit too much. [huh]
That being said, Borsalinos [and black hats in general]...
Ummm....
What are you trying to say?[huh]
IndyGear's Club Obi-Wan has all the info you'd ever need about the Indy hats, this is a very limited [and somewhat under-informed] piece you're quoting as gospel... If it's info you want, try this or join Club Obi-Wan and get an overload of this...
One quote of Twain's that has stuck with me is from Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. "Well, that's what I'm a-saying; all kings is mostly rapscallions as fur as I can make out"
Tawny Fawn Akubra Federation
I felt like de-saturating today's hat photo. What's interesting is, while all the other colors desaturated the hat color didn't change much.
