Yeah you need to choose a jacket that has the collar coloring and shape that you like. I don't think that you have much to worry about regarding fading with the current jacket makers. Both G-1’s and M-422’s run the gamut in collar shape. In general G-1’s have (had) a more rounded collar...
Obviously 80’s music is not the same as Swing, or neo-Swing (or whatever it's called), or rockabilly. But within the confines of the three mentioned above, the dancers should unite, is all I meant. From what I’ve seen there aren’t the numbers to separate each group into a separate demographic...
Absolutely. Dancing and music wasn’t a pass time. It was a release from a crappy living. I’ve heard the same thing said about Mambo music of the 50’s & 60’s. You can’t recreate that.
I’ve got pages & pages of stuff that I’ve written for this thread and I just can’t seem to arrange it in a way that reads properly. John has stated one of my main points very well. You guys should not forget that the whole “swing” market is a very small niche.
The 90’s swing...
I’ve always felt that horsehide was over rated. BladeRunner states above that the quality of the hides varies greatly. I personally believe that the same could be said of any hide. The only hide that I’ve seen that still makes a good leather jacket even when the hide (and or tanning method)...
This is a public service announcement. Go see Mose Allison before he’s gone. He’s really a national treasure.

His website doesn’t have any tunes on it, but his music is readily available (even on itunes). Awesome writer.

He’s got a trombone under his arm, not a machine gun.
There are literally hundreds of album covers that I would have liked to have put up but It would take me forever to hunt up the art. I also declined to put up some of my favorites that involved nudity (I didn’t want to give...
Here are a couple of records that I think have cool art. Most of the ones that I like are from the late 50’s through the 60’s.
One of my favorites.
This is a cool record (now on cd). I didn’t do many jazz records only because I know that there are probably plenty of guys here that...
Getting old isn’t the issue. Being “Soylent Green” is. I have a friend that refers to people that don’t matter as “Soylent Green”. His point is that these people would better serve society as Soylent Green than in their current state. And unlike in the movie, being a candidate for...
I recently replaced a bunch of my leather jackets (like 5). Two of them are made out of what is referred to as “Indian vegetable tanned goatskin”. The “Indian” part refers to the skins coming from India. Anyway, I have been wearing these two jackets much more than the ones made out of...
I went with a Gibson & Barnes Patch. They're local for me.

Eastman Leathers (England) also sells one. Yeah I'm talking about the What Price Glory one. I may have the jacket back by tomorrow. If that's the case I'll post pics. Cheers
I just got one of these today thanks to this post. I also remember that Avirex did have one in their catalogue briefly, way back when. Anyway, I think that the jacket is really cool. I’m very satisfied with it. I think that the average person would be satisfied with it as well. Really anal...
Although it may not be the case with regards to the tanker jacket, I know that the U.S. second generation WW2 cold weather gear was made to be worn in layers. The new stuff was supposed to be worn over the old gear. Cheers
