Did I get the vintage look or am i kidding myself?
I found this jacket recently at Macy's and thought it had a nice vintage look to it with the fine houndstooth pattern overlapped with a pumpkin and powder blue check pattern.
Together with my silverbelly Stetson Open Road, It's as close to...
Jimmy, thank you so much for the time and effort you have put into my question on dating my OR. As Sue said...you are true asset to the lounge!
Please note that the logo and print on the sweat was originally gold but has faded from use. Close inspection of the top of the print and logo show...
Stetson Open Road circa 1950
Won this on ebay in June but just started to wear it yesterday. Was rebuilt by Gus Miller of Batsakes in OH. Any input on exact dating would be appreciated.
Oops!!!!!
Sorry Roninjedi, must have been a subliminal slip...I corrected it.
Bottom line thought is that it suits you and it's a great day-to-day hat.
Need feedback
Got inspired by following this thread to retire my Montecristi for the season and break out the OR I won on ebay back in June. The seller represented that this hat was one of the first generation OR's from the late forties. It was restored by Gus Miller of Batsakes so I included...
You look great wearing it Roninjedi. If you want it to snap up on the back a little then just shoot it with a few puffs of steam from a steam iron and flange it by forming a letter "C" with your thumb and pointer finger and roll the brim through it back and forth a few time. You'll understand...
a'bunadh
Aberlour a'bunadh Speyside Single Malt, single cask, cask strength, non chilled filtered and aged in Sherry oak casks. Ahh, this is the Scotch that made me a Scotch drinker eight years ago. Deep, rich, pralines, charred caramel, bitter sweet chocolate, and dried orange peel notes...
As a newbie to this thread, let me introduce myself. I'm a wine professional, not a coffee professional, although I would argue that coffee can be judged like fine wine. After decades of drinking every style of coffee I find myself back to the basics.
I start my day with coffee made in a...
Hi thinkfloyd, welcome to the Lounge. Brent Black only deals in fine quality Panama hats, but he is one of the top purveyors of Montecristi's. Panama Bob is the go to guy for ANY quality...lowly Azogues to Super Fino's. Even though you purchased your Cuenca elsewhere, I suggest you reach out...
part II for Ronin
Forgot to mention, I also have an inexpensive Cuenca from PB with a more open weave, but there is an old expression:
"Luxury, once experienced, becomes necessity"
I just can't go back to it after wearing a Montecristi ;-)
to rlk,
I'll take your word for it, but the weave on the Optimized hat seems double the density of the weave on the Teaser rolled hat. Is it just my aging eyes?
To Ronin
You nailed it, Panama Bob is the one to go to, and believe me, you can wear a Montecristi day to day. I'm wearing a PB Montecristi with a tight 23x23 weave and while it might not ventilate as well as the open weave Brisa, it is sooooo light and airy on my noggin!
Hi rlk,
Did I miss something? Are you saying that the $11.02 "teaser" is the same hat as the $11.02 fully "Optimized" hat? It can't be, the weaves are completely different. Again, forgive me if I missed something, but those two hats are not one and the same from what I can see from the photos.
