    Excessive posting? ... Interesting.....

I find this an interesting thread. I believe frequent posters may be somewhat lonely. Perhaps posting and receiving commentary offers acceptance and solace to them, making them part of a larger community. They may actually have a lot to say on a subject, or subjects, but slow or stop when they...

What's something modern you won't miss when it becomes obsolete?

It may have been stated already, but ALL Reality Television. The word, "physicality". Pain, old age, cancer, local TV News from 4 PM until 7 PM. Overpaid athletes, with college degrees, who can't speak English.

    How Was Your Day?

Today, Vija received an email from our next door neighbor. "A tree branch has fallen on your property and it is laying across the street and blocking the road." So I loaded up the car and proceeded to venture down. The "branch" turned out to be about half a tree. 40' long and 8" in diameter. I...

    School Sandwiches

Thanks Lizzie, it'll be on our holiday menu this year! We usually don't do turkey anyway. Lasagna, reuben casserole, seafood stew, and glazed ham are always favorites around here. We always try to do a celebration of food and make something different from the traditional holiday fair.

    School Sandwiches

We had cow's tongue at our family Christmas dinner last year. Each year we prepare something that our children and grandchildren have never before tasted. It was a big hit. My late father-in-law loved headcheese. He and my wife would eat it all the time. It reminded me of stinky feet.

Two Mafia hit-men walk into the woods on a dark night. After a while one of them says, "It's so dark in here I have to admit it's scary." The second hit-man replies, "You're scared, what about me...I gotta walk out of here alone!"

    The ultimate bad-guys of cinema-history?

Although it is a TV show, the meanest, nastiest guy I ever watched was Jeffery Dean Morgan in The Walking Dead as the character Negan. I've seen Jeffery in several movies playing similar bad-ass characters.

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

I used to think like you. Old age and arthritis have rendered me to using an automatic. They have improved these to a point where-by, a good deal of control as to shifting points can be experienced by the driver. I have used the "manual" or "sport" mode now and again. Car shifts where I want...

    Valuable Commodities

Do you still read newspapers? Do you purchase them at the market, or have them delivered? I ask because I do not possess any. Years ago we stopped their deliveries to our home. This brought a delimma of sorts. I now have to go out at night and raid dumpsters for these valuable commodities...

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

One thing I remember distinctly because I was interested in them, were gangsters. They were conspicuous by their very absence from most research books, ie encyclopedias.

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

L.M. an astute observation indeed. I often had the same thoughts when reading or re-reading the classics. Dickens, Poe, J.F. Cooper, Homer, Steinbeck, Hemingway, Harper Lee all had different ideas and ideals that can be discerned from their writings.

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

The Encyclopedia Do you remember going to the library to look up some fact in an encyclopedia? Those books of knowledge (no pun intended) that provided us with a bit of information on just about anything. Then we could write a report about the subject. Sure, sometimes we needed to have further...
