That's a shame, for sure. How long was your wait for this pair?

He probably did most of that damage loading it up on the wrecker! :D

The Non Shorpy Web All Stars.

Those bibs are interesting! The sides button up high, and looks like a pocket watch pocket at the right waist? Neat.

    Your favourite commercials

Funny this thread would pop up again. I was just showing the grandkids this video of logging in the old school days. I believe this was a commercial for Sanka (?) coffee. The fellow doing the cutting was in his early 60s at the time. Both he and the camera guys had great big brass ones! They...

Baking soda discolored my Akubra Cattleman. Anyway to save it?

You might try vacuuming it with a brush attachment. That will probably get the baking soda out, but won't correct the altered texture from sanding.

    Photos of hatters tools

It's great to hear from you, Rick, and great that you're still interested in making hats, along with all the other things you do. ;)

    USPS Ground Advantage Gripes

I've had five packages shipped via USPS from all over the country over the last three days, including one hat from a member here. Every single one of them was flagged with "ALERT! Processing exception - Regional weather delay" at the origin point. All five of them, from various regions of the...

OTHER THAN eBAY Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

It may indeed be Bran. I was thinking it might be another color they used to offer called Acorn Fawn. I always liked that color but it had been discontinued, apparently, about the time I got interested in "good" hats ;), and was no longer available in anything my size. I remember someone, maybe...

OTHER THAN eBAY Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I really like the colors on that hat. Should you decide you can't make it work for you, please let me know by PM. I may be interested in it. Thanks!

    Bib overalls and suit jackets

Can't say I've ever seen bib britches "bloused" like that before, except with rubber boots to work in barnyard muck. Interesting!

Stetson Open Road vs Akubra Campdraft

Funny you say that - did the photo catch her peeping around the corner to see what you were up to with those hats? :D And don't dare try the "you have more shoes than I have hats" argument with her; that never turned out well for me. Thanks for the comparison!

    Akubra Lightning Ridge

Excellent, it does indeed help. Thank you for the followup! Now I just have to find one in size 62... ;)

So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

Best wishes to you! I hope it turns out to be nothing unusual.

    Akubra Lightning Ridge

Interesting, and congratulations! I thought the crown height on the Lightning Ridge and Banjo Paterson were very similar, just based on what I've read here. If it's a half inch taller, I'll start scouring the auction sites for a used one myself!

Ask a question, get an answer

Does Akubra tack the corners of their wide bows and ribbons with small stitches? Even if they did, I can't imagine that any high holes from tacking could not be massaged out of the felt, especially if it were new. I replaced the ribbon and bow on my Adventurer some years ago, but I don't...
