How would one properly handle a washable tie? Does it mean machine washable? I own one by the company Trevira, and they are made of polyester. I've posted this picture before, but here it is again.

    What are you wearing today??

Nice, Hamilcar Barca! About the most formally dressed I've been all week, was a white shirt, vintage 1920s or 1930s red plaid tie, slim (not very skinny, either) Old Navy khakis, and reproduction U.S. Army Type II dress shoes (they are in fact boots). Are you also interested in...

    What are you wearing today??

Welcome! I might have heard of, or stumbled upon one of your videos before, on YouTube. I have never browsed Reddit much at all. Criticism is very harsh, and from what you mention, it seems that it wasn't real criticism so much as immaturity and rude behavior. Don't let that stop you from...

    Fun brief article

Interesting article, thanks. While many trilbies are cheap hats, I think that the trilby could look very sharp, even casually. James Bond sometimes wore such hats Dr. No, From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, and On Her Majesty's Secret Service. After that, I...

How do folks react to your hat wearing?

I do like the hats he's worn in that picture. I think the one he wore to the Grammy event though, could have used a well-defined crease, like a teardrop or a center dent. It looked sorely amiss, to me.

    What Are You Reading

Recently, I have been reading two books, which I've yet to finish. The mysterious author B. Traven's The Death Ship, and former Kraftwerk band member Wolfgang Flur's book, I Was a Robot. I have been enjoying both, so far. B. Traven is most famously the author of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre...

    1920s suits

Charles Ponzi, most famous for his "Ponzi Scheme," wore an interesting suit in 1920. Notice the arrangement of the buttons, which I don't think I've noticed very much at all on double-breasted jackets. It does look like a tight fitting jacket, however. Here he is with his mother and wife...

How do folks react to your hat wearing?

Who's Pharell Williams? I think most if not all of us have heard of Indiana Jones, even with a little bit of help from people passing us, by now, but I don't know who that guy is. What is he, a singer or a rapper? What's his controversy? I guess I'm going to read a bit about him, anyway.

    My First Vintage-ish G-1

That jacket fits very well, I think. It's also a good color, which I like a little more than the very dark seal brown color. I would want to get a G-1 jacket that fits much how it appears in the pictures, form fitting and with somewhat shorter sleeves. I had a modern-made (Non-military) G-1, but...

That's interesting to know. It really does remind me of period originals, so I can see the influence. Here is the pattern.

    My first stolen hat

I'm glad you have them back. I think the hat can be fixed, as I had the same problem at one point while leaving one of mine around during a party, getting smashed in a bit. I popped it back out to return to the original shape, however, and it didn't leave severe crease marks.

    What are you wearing today??

No. :) I do have a habit of partially covering my face when posting online photos, though.

    What are you wearing today??

I don't post often, but here are some recent pictures. The first one is of today. Two of these ties are vintage, but the middle one is modern, a midnight blue grenadine tie made by Sam Hober.

Very nice ties! Today I wore my Sergio Valente tie, which I think to be of the late '50s or '60s era. The tie is not quite green at all, but with a dark grey background and lighter shades of blue-grey strokes across with small white or red geometric patterns. Here are two other recent...

Thank you. Those are very nice ties as well, Fastuni. I like both the solid and the geometric tie, which has a nice pattern.

    My first stolen hat

I'm very sorry that you lost the hat and the glasses. I often wear hats to church as well, although I wear them to the building, and keep them around with me, whether carrying the hat or putting it down on my lap as I'm seated.

There have been nice ties, lately. Here are two of my newest ties: 1. The seller dates this wool red plaid tie to either the 1920s or the 1930s, due to the length, width, and a lack of facing. I am not sure which is correct, but it seems to be an older tie. The length is 50" inches long, with a...

Hitler Caught Napping - War Over

That's very interesting! I haven't read this account before, although it makes sense. Adolf Hitler was an intimidating man to his generals, and a disturbance of his rest could indeed have had consequences. If Hitler were awake however, could his planning have drastically affected the Allied...

"Mad Men" on AMC (US) - (Spoilers Within)

I thought that Bert Cooper's dancing scene was bizarre, although it was not completely out of place. Don has had visions like that before, of Anna, and his deceased brother. Bert's dancing was also appropriate, as it was a large part of the actor's career.

    What are you wearing today??

I've only worn a leather jacket with a tie three, or maybe four times in my life. Now, I think I should do it more often, given how much I like ties.
