Big Man great photo and I'm loving the look you've got going. As a southerner I well remember my grandfather's and occasionally my dad rocking the short sleeved shirt with a necktie during the summers. It's not a look I see very much these days. Most men seem to consider a golf shirt and khaki shorts acceptably "dressed up" for the summer months.

Suit was made in USA, brand Leonard Cincinnati. I found a label inside with date 6-3-1946, most probably from cleaning service.

Back from a couple weeks in Israel/Palestine. Never experienced such an arid climate, but the trip was great! It proved to me that a vintage-inclined wardrobe has a certain utility - never have I been more grateful for straw hats, safari jackets full of pockets, and lace-up boots. Also, I never had to worry about being dressed too "immodestly" for the many Orthodox churches we visited.

Yeah, especially with my straws I tend to worry the brim as a nervous habit, rolling it under until the curve is pretty steep. It is a distinctive look - that was a bit of a problem when the wind would slap my forehead with it!

TT, you pull off the cravat look extremely well, I'm not sure I have enough panache to do it. I am always worried about being worn by clothes, rather than the other way around. So I haven't found the courage to try out a cravat. The temps were pretty reasonable though, so I rarely had occasion to curse my compulsive insistence on neckwear.

Thanks tropicalbob, not a chore coat, actually just a safari jacket from Peterman. Nice, relatively inexpensive piece with no lining so it was cool, and as i said, had a preponderance of pockets. The straw is from J Press, purchased years ago. It's my beater hat that I don't worry about sweating through. Kept the sun off fine though.

I got a haircut today. I finally got the barber to not blend the sides (which made them very uncomfortable) Just wearing a typical 20s inspired casual outfit for my day off.

Looks great cpvd. Love the shawl collar cardigan + bow tie look. I like a tight fade as well, and my barbers are equally obsessive about blending out the lines. When someone asks them not to, they capitulate, but make you promise not to tell anyone where you got the haircut!

Metropd pulls off the high crowned fedora very well - the one in the picture was actually designed by him. I think fedoras would suit you too - it's just a case of getting one with the right proportions to suit your face and being confident enough to carry it off.

The suit was made by a made to measure tailor based just round the corner from where I work in the south of England. The idea was to keep it subtle, interesting, classic and modern all at the same time!

Although the tailoring on their website is very modern, they were able to make classic looking suits for me as I gave them very specific measurements for things like the lapel width, button spacing and height, trouser width, rise... They also have a huge selection of classic British cloths.
