Gents, I have a fancy-back sport coat for sale. Not vintage, but in the style of. A heathery-green tweed with color flecks, two button, four cuff buttons (all leather). Three pleated patch pockets, right hip has a coin catch. Back has a yoke, belt, center pleat, and no vents. Fully lined, two...
Thanks, FFL and TT, I remember that suit now. I didn't remember it being 4 patch pocket, which is why I thought it was another suit. Now I really need to find a copy of Black Cat (because it's a Lugosi film I haven't seen and to see the suit!). I'll be on the lookout for fabric, too.
When I use a lighter I use an Imco Slimline (now owned by Esbit). About the size of a Zippo, fits nicely in a vest pocket, and the removable fuel tank is very convenient for pipes. Lights more consistently than my Zippo and the fuel seems to last longer. I like the vintage-like look, too...
I used original Brylcreem (alone) when I lived in the UK, but when I moved back to the States I switched to Groom and Clean, mainly because it's a couple bucks cheaper. Good stuff, though I want to try the Brylcreem over here to see if it works as well.
I have a question on seam finish that I'm hoping someone can help with. I'm making an outfit for my wife from a 1950s pattern (New York 1403), which has a shirt, blouse, and bolero. It will be an unlined summer outfit, with the skirt and bolero in cream and burgundy cotton gingham. I think...
Here are the vintage silks. One green futurist design and a blue and red leaf design. 1 3/4" in width, for sizes 13 to 17. $50 plus $4 shipping in the US, international shipping determined by location.
I have a handful of partly finished bow ties in silk, cotton, and wool, and a few...
I have a bunch of bow ties that I made, and I've never gotten around to posting them. All are silk, with a ribbon back and slider to keep bulk under the collar minimal and allow precise adjustment. The yellow and blue square patterns are lightweight modern tie silk. I also have a couple bow...
I do, and there are a few others, I think. Dr. Doran, who started this thread, also does. I also have pince nez for when I'm sitting and reading a book or something.
I have four shirts up on eBay, all white dress shirts for detachable collars.
The first is a fine quality shirt, MOP buttons, French cuffs, no label.

Next is a lot of three. Different labels, one...
I have a copy of an old tailoring book, and it says the tailor should sit cross-legged, even though the beginning tailor would find it an odd position.
The second-to-last guy looks like he's wearing bits of waistcoats tacked together.
These have all gone to eBay:

I just finished these houndstooth trousers. They are from the Eva Dress 1934 trouser pattern, which I haven't used in years. I've gone from a size 40 to 32, and at that size they're no longer the bags they are at the larger sizes, but still fairly wide and straight legged. 13.5" rise and a...
