I have a pair of the green Faryl Robin shoes. I got them on eBay awhile back for $12.99! They had been worn in a fashion show and then listed on eBay so they were just about brand new.
I've never worn them though. I don't have anything that matches them. What kind of color combos would you...
My two girls:
Molly, who just turned 15 last week. She's sweet and affectionate, but shy with strangers. She loves nothing more than to snuggle in bed with you at night. Molly was left abandoned in an apartment by my husband's ex-girlfriend. He broke into the apartment to rescue her...
Please keep us posted on Sheb's progress and thank you to you and your family for taking him in. He looks like a sweet little guy! Give him a rub behind his ears from me.
I almost adopted a pug that a friend found locked in an abandoned trailer during the winter. They think he was in the...
I was just going to post the same thing as Zendy. Try rubbing one of the rings really hard with your finger until it feels hot, then smell the ring. If you get an acrid smell like formeldyhyde, it's bakelite.
The colors look right for bakelite. What do they call that color combo, root beer...
Inky - Do the rings have a seam where two ends are joined? Or are they one continuous ring all the way around? I.e., were they made from a straight plastic rod that was bent into a circle or were they cast/molded into a continuous circle?
I'm afraid I don't look like the majority of my family. I do look the most like my father, who is an exact carbon copy of his father (my grandfather), pictured here with his sister (my great aunt):
I got their noses, I'm afraid.
For reference, here is a picture of my maternal...
Lovely salt & pepper shakers, however i don't think they're bakelite. These look to be made of a molded plastic (perhaps celluloid - hard to tell from pics alone). Bakelite was never molded. It was cast into it's shape and then the details/designs were carved into it by hand.
Pease Porridge is a cookbook put out by the Fort Niagara Association. It has period recipes for both officer and common soldiers, sorted by era. I've been researching federal-era soldier food and it's been well worth the investment. It's the best resource that I've found, by far.
We keep...
I made loaves of bread in a beehive oven last weekend. They were delicious and lasted only 2 days. I could kick myself for not taking pictures. I also took some of the bread dough and put it around homemade sausages to make sausage rolls. Then I made the chocolate biscuit recipe from the...
Great advice kamikat. I worked at an airport during the SARS scare and I believe the same as you. In addition to washing your hands, try not to touch your face. That is how the virus mainly enters your body. People will touch a contaminated surface, then rub or touch their face without...
I have an anti-virus program on my PC, but I'm looking for other suggestions. As for the firewall, it's my understanding that they aren't really necessary for a dial-up connection but they are for broadband because the connection is always on, unlike your connection with dial up.
Folks - I'm finally getting rid of my dial-up connection. (It's about time, right? ;) ) I think I'm going to go with Verizon high speed internet, because the price is fairly comparable to to my dial-up. Does anyone have any feed back or experience with Verizon High-speed? Have you had any...
Hmm, not sure what I am. My gut tells me autumn. Greens and browns are my best colors. Robin's egg blue, cornflower blue and periwinkle look really good on me as well. Can't do reds, pinks, yellows or oranges very often. They make my face look really red. But dark golden yellows look...
I am a very detail-oriented perfectionist when I make things, so if one little item is out of place or not perfect, it practially ruins it for me. I've learned to step back and not worry about it so much because chances are unless it is glaringly obvious, no one else will even notice it! lol
I made a cheshire pork pie and a chocolate cream over an open cook fire this weekend. I didn't get any pictures before they were eaten though. The pie turned out lovely, I'm finally starting to get the hang of baking over a fire, it involves lots of trial and error.
