Your jacket is from the 70's but has nothing to do with the Fonz. The mid 70's produced an influx of mass-produced leather jackets which copied the late 60's/early 70's rocker/hippie/hipster patterns of small but pricey custom leather shops, the most famous of which being East West Musical...
Well, get one when she's not looking. Killer stuff. I'm confident most stockists still have remaining pre-buyout jackets laying around and there will always be a ceaseless supply on eBay.
3 years back I bought one of these:

from a thrift store in Brooklyn, new with tags, for $25. Great coat!
I love Filson products but apparently their time has come and...
As a former LW A-1 owner, I can tell you they run true to size. That said, my advice is DO NOT order the jacket. The boxy pattern and way-too-heavy leather do not suit the A-1 design. Eastman make a far superior version, and if you are a 44 or under, the Buzz A-1 is probably the nicest...
My father, a San Francisco attorney, has one or two pairs of custom shoes made every year by an English shoemaker who takes orders and measurements from a hotel room. His suits are made by an England-trained Indian tailor who visits his customers' offices for measurements and fittings.
I saw this movie the other night. Refreshing and hilarious. A nihlisitc celebration of the absurdity of life.
Anyone who can't sit back and guffaw at this has some serious hang-ups.
The suit arrived last Wednesday. Heartbreakingly beautiful rags. From what I can tell it's been worn perhaps once, virtually deadstock. Unfortunately it's not a size 38 reg, more like a 40 long or 42 reg. Onto eBay it goes!
Aero made a Bootlegger-style jacket for Levi's Vintage Clothing line that has the retains the bootlegger's "aviator" collar but has a trimmer and shorter torso like the 30's halfbelt. I'd bet a few bucks they still have the pattern laying around. Mine is tagged a size "regular" and has a length...
Yeah! Damn that Republican mayor seeking to ban an unnecessary cost-cutting ingredient which causes a severe health hazard! People should be obese and disease-ridden and us taxpayers should be forced to pay for it!!!
I've watched this all the way through at least 25 times and never gotten bored with it. There are very few other THINGS, much less movies, that I can also say this about.
Benny,
You hit the nail on the head, my man. Too many of us long for a time that never existed, a time when the majority of people practiced good sound morals, a time before the evil hedonists seduced the world towards a downward path. It's such an easy cop-out, and a bogus justification to...
There's little doubt in my mind that folks in 1939 had similar romantic notions about their crummy present and glorious past. People basically don't change. The good old days never existed.
Great photos tho. Thanks Marc.
I lived, ate, and breathed hardcore from 1983-1988. It saved my life. I went to two or three shows a week during that period. I still retain many friends from them bygone days. I treasure the memories.
