    'Das Boot' Jacket

Nearly all German military or private purchase/military (Luftwaffe) jackets of 30's 40's vintage were made from elk or steer hide, not horsehide.

    What about this one?

Thanks prof, but I already knew that. Gestapo is just a lot more fun to say or write than boring old ss. It practically rolls off the tongue. Gestapo gestapo gestapo.

    What about this one?

I have to admit that the Gestapo were a very dashing group of murderous scum. Nce coat but without all the muder it simply loses all it's charm.

    A New York Christmas Tradition

Man...channel 11 used to be great back then. Remember the six-fingered "Chiller" hand? Between channels 5, 9, 11 (and of course 13 late nights), I was reared on re-runs of 50's and 60's televison and exposed to multiple viewings of nearly every great movie and serial made circa 1925-1955 as well...

THE Most Unlikely Leading Man of the Golden Era

William Bendix, who was a lead in several big time movies. Guy looked, talked, and acted like they just pulled him off the docks.

    To Have and Have Not

My least favorite of the Bogart/Bacall flicks. DARK PASSAGE was the best.

    Who is today's Henry Fonda?

What a silly question. There is no Henry Fonda of yesterday, today, or tomorrow other than Henry Fonda himself. Who is todays Moses? Who is today's Abraham Lincoln? Who is today's Babe Ruth? Who cares?

SUIT STOLEN ON EBAY PART TWO.

Yeah, it was buy-it-now. It'd just been listed, I must've been one of the first four or five people to view the auction. The weird thing is that is the second three-piece beltedback suit I scored that day. I found another from the Teens or Twenties at a thrift shop earlier that day.

    The Palm Beach suit thread

How old was the wine stain on the Palm Beach suit? I know a guy with a killer 30's linen beltedback suit for sale but it has nasty stains that are probably at least 60 years old. I wonder if Oxi Clean could clean such ancient filth.

    LVC/AERO 1930's LEATHER BIKE JACKET

Someone buy this jacket!!! You will not regret it. If I did not own one myself I'd have wolfed it. The painting can be easily removed.

    Buzz Rickson inquiry..

    A-2 Choices, Flightsuits vs. Flightjacket.com

And don't rule out buying a second hand Aero or Eastman on eBay. 40 is a very common size and these superb jackets can often be had for around $350.

    Cockpit horsehide color

The cut is all wrong on the the Cockpit A-2 but believe it or not the horsehide they use is closer in color and hand to originals than the current offerings from Aero and Eastman. It's weird, but their horsehide (both russet and seal) is awesome, thin (about 2.5 oz) and with patches of...
