I guess it must be the season..because today I went in for a "trim" and came out with a super short do!:)
It's a pixie (again). Actually for the warmer weather it suits me better, but after months of pincurling and actually having hair to brush, it is taking me a while to get used to my own...
Bonnie Jean, that vanity is just beautiful!!:) I love the fabric you used as a skirt, and the way you arranged your beauty supplies on the tray (I see the Coty powder front and center!:D ).
Pillow rollers question
Thanks for the recommendation ladies on the pillow rollers!
Here's my question, how long do they last and has anyone had to replace theirs yet? I have only used mine since Thursday, but I am afraid with all the twisting and untwisting they will get ratty looking...
My aunt used flat beer as a setting lotion for 50 years! I honestly don't remember how it smelled, but since she was a housewife and didn't go out much during the day, it didn't matter too much. I will say that she had the most beautiful hair and looked like a cross between Betty Grable and...
You ladies have all inspired me...:D
I went to CVS this morning and bought pillow rollers, a nice paddle hairbrush and some foam setting lotion ( my hair must be to used to the Lottabody, it doesn't hold a curl for me anymore:( )
Very Cute 'do Kim!:)
Sponge rollers come in sizes from exta small to extra large. Usually they are color coded.
The direction you roll has alot to do with what the curl will look like too. You can keep the rollers in your hair instead of on your pillow :) overnight if you put a wave...
Wow!
You gals are absolutely gorgeous and classy!! I envy your golden era inspired wedding photo's. Mine are typical '80's big gown, big hair... dated looking:(
I think for my 20th (coming up in 2 years) I will marry my husband all over again with a more sophisticated vintage look!:)
:eusa_clap YEAH!!:eusa_clap
I was so disappointed when the pictures didn't work anymore that I dropped the site from my favorites. Thanks Miss Huff for letting us know the pictures are back up!!!
Thank's Ohairas for recommending that great book! I went right to www.abebooks.com and found a 1955 addition which I promptly ordered! I can't wait until it gets here!!
On a side note - I went to Amazon used books first and the prices there were outrageous:rage: I would recommend anyone who...
I absolutely agree!
I stopped buying their full sized lipstick and shadows and have been using the samples. They have always been very generous. There was only one time that I ordered a lipstick sample and there was just a tiny little dab, another time a lipstick sample I got was full...
I have used both the pin curl (double prong) clips and bobbie pins. I like the clips best because they have the spring and are easier to open when you are holding the pin curl in place. They are faster too, because you use just one instead of two bobbie pins.:) :)
No doubt about it, I was born "vintage".:)
My parent's were children of the depression and young adults in the '40s. For me growing up, everything was stopped in that time period. I was born when my mom was 42 and my dad was 52. So I was always around much older adults through my...
