Ah Molly, so you do read your e-mail! :) "The Moose That Roared" is one of my favorite birthday gifts. I grew up with Bullwinkle and the gang.

    Stetson "Philly" Fedora

My Homburg was like that, too Pristine hat, and it came in a beat-up original box. The hat basically sat in a closet for 50-60 years. In my case, it was a light grey Homburg that the fellow's wife probably bought for him in an effort to spruce up his appearance and make him look more...

    Stetson Royal Deluxe Homburg

Exactly, Tony. I'm afraid the definitive answers to those questions are in a landfill somewhere in Pennsylvania. :(

    Stetson Royal Deluxe Homburg

I got this one a long time ago, but just realized I never took any detailed pictures until now. This is a Stetson Royal Deluxe, sold at Remick's department store in Quincy, Mass, which was owned by the father of the late actress Lee Remick. The liner has no covering whatsoever over the logo...

    Stetson "Philly" Fedora

I was watching that one, too. That hat is truly a winner! And I love the fact that there's a date on it! That's one thing that's frustrating for a somewhat obsessive collector like myself, that one generally has a hard time determining the age of a hat just going by the style and the...

    Transmitting your own signal

A battery-operated one would be big fun on vintage car cruise nights, so people could tune in with their tube-type AM car radios.

Have you flown in a vintage aeroplane?

    Does a Boeing 720 or a DC-8-63 count? lol

What is your favorite aircraft of all time?

I love cranking up the volume on "Strategic Air Command" in that opening scene where the B-36 flies over Jimmy Stewart's baseball field. What a sound!

    HATCO: look at this Stetson!!

Sweet sweet sweet! I've seen a few really cool hats go on eBay lately for some decent money. One can still find a bargain now an again, but I think the demand is out there for the really gorgeous vintage lids. I'm crossing my fingers now that the black Stratoliner I just picked up won't...

    First Vintage Hat!!!

I've only found two 7-5/8 vintage hats. One was a Homburg that was advertised as a 7-1/2, which Fletch has now, and a green Dobbs fedora that says 7-5/8 inside the sweatband but has shrunk to the point that it fits like a 7-1/2.

What is your favorite aircraft of all time?

Mike, you centre picture is a C-17 Globemaster III, the last military aircraft designed by the late great Douglas Aircraft Company before it was swallowed by some outfit in Seattle.

    War in Europe, 1939 !

Hard for us here in the States nowadays to get used to the idea that by 7 December 1941, the war in Europe had already been in progress for over two years, and the war in the Pacific (well, China) longer than that. So many millions died, but if WWII hadn't happened, I might not have been born.

So when did the boater sink from popular wear?

Fred Astaire wore it well, too.

    Movies And Their Profanity

Can one say "Fakakta" (sp?) here? I like it, it has those "K" sounds, and as we all know, the "K" sound is funny.
