I have a set of '40s military khaki trousers. I really like them, but I realise that they won't last forever.
When they finally do wear through (I got them in a worn state) I planned on bringing them to a tailor and asking him to whip up a new pair based on the originals.
Has anyone...
C'est dommage... I went over to Mr. Ducktail's shop but alas, he was at some rockabilly festival and wouldn't be back until Tuesday.
So... I went to a local place, Rough Cut (featuring a big aul hedgehog out front). The girl who cut my hair went all-out trying to get me what I was after...
Oddly enough I knew two families which had "secret" rooms/passageways in their houses.
When I was about 8, my parents would drop me off to play with a kid who lived in the next town over (Bellport, NY). They had a large, two story house that must've been built in the mid 1900s. It was by...
I had a dark blue, fur felt Tonak that I bought in Romania several years ago.
It was a very nice, thin, floppy felt - very easy to bash.
I trimmed the brim down somewhat and ended up giving it to a hatless friend. It benefited from the narrower brim.
Many thanks for the kind words. It is my favourite article of clothing, hands-down, that I've ever had.
I wanted something like this for ages, but as you're all aware outerwear of this design and quality aren't readily available off-the-rack.
My father-in-law's pilot's coat from the...
New FQHH Aero Barnstormer
Hi all,
After placing the order in February with Aero for a size 46 FQHH Barnstormer, it arrived the day before yesterday:
Here it is, this time on yours truly on the way to work.
It is still very stiff, and weighs a ton - but it looks great. I've...
Many thanks! I am very, very happy with it. It is my first Aero coat, and I'm impressed. It was worth the wait, every single day of it!
I think I'll start a new thread on the mighty Barnstormer. It is a manly coat indeed, not for the faint of heart or slight of physique!
Good news... my Barnstormer was shipped yesterday, and arrived today!
It is a wonderful creation, as heavy as a pile of bricks, stiff as a board and dead sharp looking. It was worth the wait.
The colour is even better looking in person...
Here it is, straight outta the box:
I noticed that my bank account was down by the price of one Aero jacket, so I phoned up Amanda and she said that it was indeed on it's way!
Posted out today, should be with me by Monday. Looking forward to it!
I'm in the same boat. I ordered a Barnstormer around the 10th of February and I was told it would be about 8 weeks.
I'm looking forward to receiving it, and I'd rather have them do it right and take their time than rush it.
I do hope that it isn't too warm though by the time I get it...
When I was in the Army, I had one of those Gore-Tex jackets that replaced the M65 field jacket. I didn't like it at all, it didn't keep me particularly warm - even with the detachable liner.
When we first moved to London, I went on three job interviews - and I wore my hat to all of them. I also managed to get all three... I think it is about wearing the hat, rather than letting it wear you.
I didn't wear the hat during the interview - as other people posted earlier - you take...
I live in London, and I've been refused entrance into several normal establishments because I was wearing a hat. Nothing trendy mind you, once a vintage '40s Stetson, another time an Adventurebilt, and yet another time an Akubra. All broad-brimmed, nothing funky. I was wearing a suit and tie...
Thanks for the suggestions... I was thinking about cinching the belt in the back, I do something similar with my overcoat.
Is the belt heavy enough to actually hang?
Barnstormer - belt?
Hi all...
One last question for anyone who has the Aero Barnstormer... Do any of you wear them without the belt?
I looked at the Mariner as well, and I have to admit that I like the details of the Barnstormer a bit better. My worry is that the belt might make me look...
