You look great for your first try! My first attempt didn't look near that lovely!
As for the frizzies, did you use setting lotion? Also, you can brush the hair with a nice soft bristle brush and that might help.
Is that a Latin phrase on the wall? I took a couple of years of it eons ago in...
Just lovely, Johanna!
Johanna, I don't think you ever have a "bad hair day"! I love your long-hair look too! Love the outfit and I really like your table, chair and accessories. Is that in your home? Outstanding! :eusa_clap
ND,
I think a lot of dance shoes out there don't have regular soles on the bottom for outside wear. Some of them have a suede leather bottom. They're meant to be worn indoors on dance floors. But the 2nd pair you showed appears they could be worn outside, I can't tell from the pics and...
ND,
Are these vintage stockings? If they are, then I HIGHLY recommend that you wash them first in Hosiery Mate or something similar. It will help strengthen the fibers of the stockings. Frankly, I've only had one pair of stockings that my toes ran through and its because the foot part of the...
ND,
There are no right or left foot in stockings. But they may feel a bit strange until you get used to them, especially if you are used to modern hosiery. Is there any reinforcement at the toes at all? Most of my stockings have some type of reinforcement or different type of weave at the toes...
Oh, you gals just make me smile. You're ALL still very young and beautiful and you should wear whatever makes you feel good. A confident woman looks good in anything.
I'm a little over a year away from hitting the big 5-0, but I'll never give in to "poodle hair" or wearing what others think...
I agree. I didn't think there was a difference (I'd worn Hanes stretch stockings for years), but after I wore my first pair of FF seamed stockings, I threw out everything stretchy. There's just something so feminine about wearing fine nylon stockings. No wonder the guys oogle and aah over them!
Lady Day, I think you're the bargain-treasure queen of the Lounge! Woo-eee!
I recall you found all those vintage 30s sewing patterns for a song too! I just might have to follow you around and maybe get a few of your leftovers! ;)
That's a good price, but they're stretch seamed stockings and I prefer the FF seamed nylons. The "non-stretchy" stockings wear a lot longer than stretchy ones and the seams will stay in place better too. But that's just IMHO [huh]
New Years In The Midwest
As is our custom (Harry Pierpont and me), we spent New Years at a speakeasy somewhere in Iowa.
This year, they're working on getting the band back together.
(And, no, the tree is not on fire. its just how the camera reflected the Christmas lights with the dim...
PS,
Have you looked at this website before? I clicked on the first lesson (for a pull on skirt) and started reading and it seemed very user-friendly and easy to understand. It might be worth taking a look.
Don't give up. If I lived closer I'd take you under my wing! Alas, IL is quite a drive...
Lola, I have the same problems getting them to fit me too. I'm very "pear-shaped" and I'm also looking for something that will fit me on both top and bottom. But I do like the idea of extra storage for pajamas and a snack! lol lol
tesasgirl, I believe "pereline" is just another word for 'cape'. But it sounds much more feminine than just 'cape'.
I can picture it now:
texasgirl (in her sweet Southern drawl): "Les, honey, could you please hand me my pereline?
I think the word 'pereline' just flows better, don't you?
Cardigan pictures?
OK, can someone take a picture of themselves in a cardigan worn backwards? I tried wearing it this a.m. and I just looked silly--like I had put the thing on backwards and not very stylish at all! lol Maybe I just don't have the right style/length of cardigan or it just...
