I was 6 at the time and living in Kentucky as my Dad was in the Army at Knox.
We lived in a mobile home that was packed with my parents friends that day. I remember wearing my Apollo astronaut jumpsuit and praying Neil wasn't going to get attacked by aliens when he stepped outside the...
Cool thread!
I am about ready to take my promo shot for my cartooning site and to send with my comic strip submissions to the syndicates.
It's going to be a retro pic, as if it was taken in the late 50's, early 60's of me at my drawing table, with a 50's loop shirt and cardigan, hair...
Networks use a lot of canned music, or pay to have someone compose something. It's cheaper. If they were to use an existing song, they would have to license it, which means BIG bucks. I am guessing these little tributes aren't worth that kind of money.
One reason The Wonder Years will NEVER...
I must amend my above comments.
There are TWO styles of Aloha shirts in Hawaii.
One is for tourist and what the world considers the Hawaiian Shirt, and subject of this thread.
The other is the Aloha shirt worn by most business men in Hawaii and tucked in to your slacks.
The designs...
Well I can say that you don't tuck in an Aloha shirt, even if you are Magnum.
Sure, you can do it, but you will get under the breath snickers from locals in Hawaii. It's equal to wearing black socks and dress shoes with shorts (yes, tourist do it all the time).
At our H.S. on Maui, we had...
I grew up on the island of Maui and though I took Aloha shirts for granted growing up, I began collecting them when I got older.
Right now I own over 50 vintage shirts from the 30's up to present day. My biggest score was a box of 30 vintage shirts from the 40's and 50's some old Japanese lady...
Wow, what a coincidence!
I was just searching for Esterbrook nibs today because cartoonist Charles Schulz used them exclusively. In fact, in his autobiography, he said when he found out the company was going out of business, he bought all remaining boxes of the Radio 914 nib.
Been...
I still do. I hate digital, even though I am forced to use it in video production.
I try to load up my 8mm Brownie movie and Starflex with film whenever I have a chance.
Creative suggestions! Thanks!
After doing some research, I legally could use my original title as book titles aren't copyrighted, nor are movie titles.
The book is called "Where's my Jetpack".
I added the "Honey" before I even knew about the book.
What do you guys think about "Space...
Thanks for the input so far!
I really need something that sums up the feel of the strip, so when people hear the title, they immediately get a feel of what it's about without even seeing it.
"Honey, Where's my Jetpack" did just that.
Up the Lake Michigan coast, ending up at the Mackinaw Bridge.
Unfortunately, last time I did, I was a child, but we had so much fun, it's stayed with me all of these years.
I am a cartoonist developing a comic strip and I need a title!
Here is the premise:
A family strip taking place in the future, envisioned in the 50's/60's. Very Syd Mead-ish, Mid-centuryish retro. It's the commercial future, envisioned by FORD, Chevy, GE, et al.
Yes, some could say it's...
