    Chi Chi Rodriguez Hat

I just got an original Chi Chi Rodriguez straw hat and I love it, even though I am not a golfer. Chi Chi's golfing career ended over 25 years ago. I don't know how old this hat is, but it is old. I like to wear straws and while I have some that are nicer, my Chi Chi is the most interesting...

A stupid question, I fear. What is the origin of silver belly? It is such an odd name.

No doubt, it depends on whether you are wearing the hat or looking at the hat.

The hat came this way. There is no wire in the brim. Yes, I wear a long oval hat. What do you think?

This is not a great picture, but it does show the problem. The view is from the side of the hat. The brim generally slopes down, but there is a bump in it that is unattractive. I would like to get it out. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Ask a question, get an answer

Actually, my problem is that the brim is snapped down in an unattractive way. What I would like to do is to straighten it out a bit. Any thoughts?

I need to reshape the brim of a milan. Can it be done? If so, how?

    Christys hats and rain

I have Christy's foldable fedora. When I went out for a walk last night I wore it because there was a possibility of thunderstorms. And this hat was expendable. I got caught in a heavy downpour. The hat was not just wet, it was waterlogged. Now that it is dry, the hat seems to have shrunk a size.

Places to look for hats in Charlotte or Asheville N.C.???

Keith Christmas runs Alexander Hats in Charlotte. He is a very friendly and helpful fellow. The inventory is not massive, but I saw a few hats that were of interest.

I have three of Art's beauties. A rust with an olive ribbon, a dark moss with a black ribbon and a milan with a dark green ribbon. I wish it was enough...

    vintage vs. custom

I don't own any vintage hats. Perhaps because I don't have a vintage head. The few hats I have seen in my size just don't appeal to me. But I love custom hats. You get exactly what you want in precisely your size. What is not to love?

The crown is 4 3/4 in the front and 3 7/8 in the back. The brim is 2 3/4 in front and back. It is 2 1/2 on the sides.

Art Fawcett VS Hall of Fame

I got an new hat from Art for Christmas. It is his Brooklyn model, but I had him make it with a dimensional brim. It is rust felt with a green ribbon and a green liner. This hat fits like a glove. I think my head must be more oval that the standard hat. Not a problem for Art. I like is so...

New Swanepoel/Stetsons: "Fewer than 50 of these hats will ever be produced."

I have never heard of this designer. Not that I know much about designers. Certainly, I wish him and Stetson well. But, I really don't like these hats. In fact, they are just ugly.

    Cologne and perfume

I like Creed's Green Irish Tweed. Its not vintage, but it was originally made for Cary Grant. And while Green Irish Tweed is not vintage, Cary Grant was.

    Pomade

Another one to consider is Dapper-Man. It holds well and washes out, but contains no petroleum based ingredients. I have some of the same hair issues you do when I use one of the traditional pomades, but not with Dapper-Man.
