My mother has been using witch hazel for years and has gloriously soft skin. Her skin looks like it belongs to a much younger woman. I use Olay anti-aging cream, which several people have also pointed out contains witch hazel. When I'm visiting my mother on occasion, I'll use her witch hazel...
I have ridiculously straight curl-resistant hair and a long face. As much as I love curls on other people, they're not going to happen for me. Same with victory rolls...even if the roll comes out well, it just doesn't work with my face shape. My brilliant friend Bettie found a vintage-flavored...
Hmmm... I have some lovely Honey Girl dress shields, guaranteed to keep the armpits of your dresses fresh and sweat-free. Not sure how old they are, though. Or how popular they were.
Kamikat, based on your avatar, you've got nothing to worry about.
Have you tried figuring out if there's a common thread to the outfits in which you feel frumpy? A certain color, hemline, neckline, etc. that you can just avoid for a while? Or is it a more pervasive, lingering sense of...
SugarKitten, Neutrogena makes a sunblock for sensitive skin...it's very light, not at all oily, and works effectively. I've had good luck with it, even on my face.
Revlon's ColorStay Ultimate Lipcolor in Top Tomato is a nice orangey-red that lasts FOREVER. Through eating, roller derby games with my mouthguard in and out, sleeping... and it doesn't really dry out my lips.
I felt pretty the other day so I snapped a few pictures. Not wearing anything special, just a pencil skirt and tank top with fun shoes and lipstick, but I felt good.
I just got the best gift ever from my former mother-in-law: several compacts and a vanity set that had belonged to her mother, and this:
Miss Golightly, that blouse is gorgeous.
I say wear what makes you feel best. I like the '40s. I have ridiculously straight hair that refuses to curl into a lot of the traditional '40s styles, so I usually have a chin-length bob with eyebrow-skimming bangs, although I've finally grown my hair out long enough so I can attempt victory...
Modcloth.com has a ton of cute shoes right now: http://www.modcloth.com/store/ModCloth/Womens/Shoes
I got the Oceanside Pier wedges last week and love them to death.
GrantFan, Martini Time and C-Dot, you've inspired me. I have a party to go to on Friday and I wasn't planning on getting all decked out, but you ladies look so pretty and like you're enjoying yourselves so much you make me want to share in the fun. :)
Time to rifle through my closet...
Purse dilemma solved!
Yesterday I found a gray bag at an antique store that I love...It's exactly what I've been looking for. I'm not sure how old it is, but I love it, the price was right, and when I got home with it, the Mister took one look at it and said, "That's you."
The only...
Flip side: do you ever pass up something you love and can afford because you don't trust yourself with it?
I'm horrible at making decisions about small purchases - big stuff, like a car, house, computer, etc. I know right away, but if you ask me pick out a tube of lipstick, I'll fret all...
small changes?
Ohairas and Brooksie, sorry you're both having such rough times...here's hoping things change for the better very soon.
I think it's perfectly natural for people to get bored with their style or need a change, whether it involves vintage or not. I know I've had clothes that...
ThesFlishThngs, those are gorgeous!
I've been journaling for 20 years, but just in writing, although I love the way more visual journals look. I like the portability of writing. If I've got a doctor's appointment, a flight, or some other thing scheduled where I know I'll have time sitting...
Cleaning old lipstick holders?
I have a few compacts/vanity cases with lipstick tubes, and I'd love to get the grotty old lipstick out, but I'm not sure how to do so without damaging the compacts. Anyone have any experience with this?
The habits will vary to a certain extent depending on which order of religious you are looking at. Each order has its own special characteristics.
While the terms are often used interchangeably, there is a difference between nuns and sisters. Nuns are cloistered, meaning they live together in...
hey, lady...
I'm Ms. at work and Mrs. outside of work. I was married, took my first husband's name, then got divorced and reverted to my maiden name (largely because my sister-in-law and I had the same name and were starting to get indications that our credit histories may be getting confused)...
Thanks so much for posting all these amazing pictures. Now I'm on a mission for V-necked cardigans.
I love seeing that there are hairstyles that aren't ALL curled, that there's hope for those of us with curl-resistant hair. :) As long as I can get the ends to curl under, I'll be ok.
Some...
