I'll try and remember to take some photos this weekend. I must confess I haven't worn it recently, as it's been a bit cold. I've been giving the Aero Barnstormer regular outings over the past week or so though!
Well, yesterday I wandered into the Barbour shop here in Manchester to have a look at the International Jackets and noticed a new, lightweight, version in a material called Duralinen. It's a mustard colour linen that they treat with a black PU (i think) coating, which gives it a very...
I tend to use it for friends and colleagues. I tried myspace, but don't really have the time for it. Twitter looks interesting, to keep in touch with people on the move.
I got one a year or so ago with the heavy cotton drill lining. It makes it easier to wear more often in the (excluding this week!) relatively mild British weather. I find it's great until the weather gets really, really cold, then I opt for my wool/quilted Barbour.
Hi there Bobjones! Ironically I've been in London the last few days, but nowhere near the Lewis Leathers shop. It's a very iconic brand for the classic biker enthusiasts, but sadly I never got around to taking my bike test so I can't really justify getting a 'full on' biker jacket from them...
I'm a 48" chest and 5' 11.5" tall and I asked Shaul's opinion via the online form as wanted to get a 'roomier' fit, rather than the military style. I went with the 50" Regular and it's great, but the sleeves are much too long. Still, it goes well over a sweater in the winter. If it helps any...
It is odd that it doesn't seem to specify the leather. I bought the A2 from them in seal brown horsehide, size 50R and I asked for side entry pockets (I know, I know, an offense against the A2, but I like pockets!) and ended up paying about $100 extra per option, which did hike the price up a...
I bought the shoulder bag from Kakadu but, to be honest, it was pretty poor quality and not a particularly great design. I like the look of some of their other products, but I wouldn't buy anything else unless I could see it in person.
Sorry skbellis, I used the wrong quote button on my response to a different post and accidentally commented on the Sportsman's guide post.! Apologies for the confusion and I'll re-do the post.
I tried on the Barbour International last week in their shop in Manchester, but the it's quite a snug fitting jacket so I need to go back when they have the size up. It's a lovely coat, to my mind every bit as nice as a Belstaff (I haven't got a Belstaff, but I have looked at them quite closely...
I bought one of their canvas bags last year and it's pretty awful quality. I kept it on the off chance it might come in handy one day, but I can see it going to the charity shop soon as it's just taking up space.
Hi Bob - thanks for that! That was a picture from last year (or possibly late 2006!) and it's broken in a bit more since then. Hopefully it'll be too big for you (48" Regular), so I don't have to go to the bother of chaining it up!
The bad news is, I now want another one for warmer weather...
I've had the Aero Barnstormer in the standard Brown FQHH for just over a year, I went for the cotton drill rather than wool as it just never gets that cold for me in the UK to need that thick a lining. It's thick leather and very heavy, but hugely enjoyable to wear. I'm convinced it will...
