On the plus side, the OK navy blue submariner I ordered and sent back seemed great quality, British wool and made in the UK. Smelled like sheep and everything. In fairness though, once I'd tried it on and found it too big, it went straight back in the bag. I imagine the Grand Prix is made by OK...
I like the idea of the Das Boot without the white stripes! I could be wrong re: Silverman's, but Outdoor Knitwear say they make them for the Navy, and Silverman's say theirs are made by the government manufacturer.
Thanks Corto, great info. Also, very cool blogs you have there!
I was a bit annoyed with Outdoor Knitwear and their returns policy re: postage and refunds. When I queried it, they didn't respond. So, fast dispatch, great sweater, fast refund, but unwilling to answer a complaint via email. If I...
Just spotted a North Sea Clothing Expedition in Ecru reduced to £73 here (no affiliation):

Size 40" only by the looks of it.
Also reduced in green here...
After the mention of Black Sheep Knitwear, I bought a pair of their gloves this week, when I managed to lose one of my old black wool Barbour pair. Very impressed, excellent value at £6. I know it's the wrong thread, but I thought folks considering a sweater might like to see the wool?
Moss...
My other half has found somewhere she thinks does repairs on woollens. Also, and this is slightly sad of me, but I asked my mother! She had some good suggestions for doing it properly, so I may have a crack at it myself.
It makes me sad without it's button:

Not the end of the world re: Outdoor Knitwear, just a shame as it's a nice sweater. I'm considering the Crystal Knitwear one, as it seems very similar (although not MOD issue as with the Outdoor Knitwear), if they can send the exact chest measurements. Failing that I'll splurge on the North Sea...
I decided not to get another Outdoor Knitwear sweater as the length of the XL is the same as the XXL. The refund was very quick, however I hadn't realised they withhold UK customers a £7.50 postage charge! It does seem to be in their terms of sale, although in the UK I'm not sure it's entirely...
Actually, I was away all week and it's being sent back tomorrow by my other half. Thankfully they offer 28 days return. I also saw this one, which looks good:

Anyone had one?
If you're looking for a decent piston filler, at a reasonable price, the new TWSBI Classic looks good and stylish. I don't have one yet, but I have their Micarta 2 and the original Diamond 530. Excellent pens for the price (the Classic is £41.99 over here in the UK).
Cheers! They're the 178s in the burgundy zug grain, with a rubber fore sole on top of the leather:
These are very hard on the feet at first though. The triple leather sole is pretty full on. Also, the rubber heel is very thin:
They'll customize if you want though. Outstanding value...
The Outdoor Knitwear Submariner arrived today and it's fantastic, but sadly fantastically big as well! I went for the XXL as I was worried the XL might be a bit snug, but I'll have to send this one back and go for the smaller size. Not their fault, and it's a great sweater. Also, while they...
