I'm not completely sure about the Fed IV, but I had a Campdraft and a Fed III at the same time. The crown heights were the same, and the brim on the Cd was 2.75" all around. So, if my info on the Fed IV is right, both the cown and brim would be slightly smaller than the Fed III.
Also, don't forget that those prices include shipping (many people do). Being mainly an internet shopper, I can tell you that his prices are not that bad once you factor in shipping and custom. Also, I think only his "in stock" items are at the NZ location. His garments are made in various...
Well, if you're after something to match earth tones, I don't think light gray will serve you well. I mean, there's silverbelly, which can look grey-ish depending on manufacturer, and Art's Silvermist. The silver mist is a cooler gray, while silverbelly (his, anyway) is more neutral.
My...
Some people can handle wearing felt in the heat and humidity. Others, like myself, can't. It's all a very personal thing. If you do get a lined felt hat, the liner can be removed (snip the thread if sewn in, or carefully pull it free from the glue). Liners can be tucked back in whenever you...
I have always wanted to participate in this thread, but I never get to take pictures. Today, I had a rare chance. I wore a homburg out of the house for the first time ever. To explain the rest of the outfit, check out the thread "Dressing Down a Homburg."

Torpedo, it's not even really a houndstooth. I think it's a traditional tweed pattern, which looks like houndstooth from a distance. It's not on their website. I called them and asked if they had something that was dominantly gray in a mixed pattern, and they had this tucked away. There's...
That sounds like a great combo, especially with the blue blazer. Some people can pull off a straw (or white/cream felt) homburg quite well. I tried one on last year... I looked like a white jewish guy suffering from head trauma, believing himself to be a black gangsta pimp. So, not a good...
I agree fully, and I've been changing my wardrobe to reflect that attitude. I just wasn't so sure a sport jacket would cut it for a homburg. But I'm going to try it today.
I am looking around for a fairly cheap hat for my father, and I thought I'd see if anyone had something laying about that might fit the bill.
Basically, he need a size 7 1/8 US (57 cm), with at least a 2 3/8 inch brim (preferably wider). I'd like to find (but am not limited to) a brown or...
I usually wear that gray coat (actually, a pea coat) or a black overcoat in deep winter. The funny part is, in the avatar pic, I have a tan t-shirt underneath. lol Probably a little too casual for the homburg if I take off the coat. :eusa_doh:
I guess that's what gets me. If I remove...
I am what you would call a loyal customer of Magnoli's. He's one of those rare dying-breed vendors with unswerving personal customer service AND high quality goods.
The only set-backs I've had with Magnoli was the one suit I ordered. But, in his defense, making a custom suit without ever...
OK. I decided to keep it. The green doesn't overwhelm the gray in good natural light. AS promised, the pictures;

Such good stuff already!!! :D
Dinerman; Great look. I'll have to give that one a go!
Wolfmanjack; Our tastes in homburgs is a perfect match, and the front pinch works better with for my face. Plus, I happen to have two autumn colored tweeds! :eusa_clap
Slim Portly; I love that...
With my new found interest in homburgs, my mind has turned to what I might wear with one. Trouble is, I have difficulty imagining a homburg with anything short of a full suit, if not a tux. By todays standard, a homburg is very formal.
So, I'm wondering if anyone has had success in pairing a...
I don't believe it, but I just got a Jury Summons. I don't know if I'll have to serve (I have to check based on something), but if I do, I'll be getting use out of some of my favorite clothes. I've been rejected twice going totally casual, so I'd be interested to see the results with a change...
Well, the Campdraft looks great. I don't think you should even steam it. Just "wear it in."
As for the Boss; First, I thought they came pre-bashed! :eusa_doh:
Anyway, I rather like the first modified Cattleman. I think if you move the side dents forward about 1/4 or 1/2 inch, you'll...
