I had a pair of Hannover black wing tips resoled just recently. Rubber heel and sole (the leather heel was just plain trecherous) set me back $58.
Seemed a little steep, but the guys work is good.
I think its going to depend on the style of watch you want. When I was first bitten by the watch bug some 15 years back I bought from a dealer.
Very nice watch (I'm wearing it now) and very dependable. Only problem is from time to time I see comparable items about for substantially less...
Stumbled across this site, thought you may be interested.
I originally posted a link in the noir thread, but there is a lot more for fans of other genre's.
Mods: apols if this has been covered before. Please delete with my apologies.

As a kid in Melbourne in the 60's, my two favourite places were the Degraves St Subway, and the South Seas restaraunt underground at the corner of Collins and Swanston. Great tropical decor and fishtanks at every table. They even had a live crocodile in a terarium (?). It made a lasting...
Hmm, interesting outcome
Reminds me of an ebay auction a while back, when a guy put a motorless 63 Pontiac Tempest up for bids
He was going to scrap it to collect the $200 recycle value, but the price of scrap fell so he put it on ebay.
It eventually sold for $226,521.63. Turns out it had...
Lenses are plastic. I usually use Brasso for watch crystals, and bakelite.
I wasn't sure Brasso would polish up on lenses to the point where it was optically clear and not leave a semi opaque patch.
I'd rather live with a scuffed patch in the centre than have the smoky look all over...
Mods, I'm sure this must have been raised, however I did a search but could not find a thread. Pls move or delete with my apols.
I recently picked up a nice pair or Willson tortoise shell frame sunglasses.
The lenses are the right green, but have very slight scufffing that is starting to...
Gents, apols if this is a thread hijack
What does the term 'spectator' strictly mean as relates to shoes?
I'd never heard the term until coming to this great forum. Shoes were always called wingtips, brogues or two toned.
Apols for digressing

Try the Martini Kings
These guys are terrific. I have some of their CD's and plan to get many more.
If you are running to a tight budget and have a computer, there are a few stations over on live365.com that cover cocktail or lounge music.
This blog is also very informative...
I love the T shirts marketed as vintage because they have artificially faded slogans on them. Makes me gnash my teeth.Where, who, what is Elwood anyway?
I think some of the issue has to do with personal perspective. I was collecting items from the 30's to 50's back in the 70's (much easier to...
Mazda rotary with 5 speed seems to be a pretty popular swap for these cars. A friend fitted this combo to a convertible Minor for his wife's daily driver. Very perky and streetable.
