I was down there on Friday and had a good long discussion with Ken, and for us mere buyers it's a case of "The King is dead, long live the King". There's nothing for us to worry about, as Ken certainly knows his onions and is very passionate about his business, just as Will was.
Ken couldn't...
I had the leather Schott for about 12 years before I sold it on, which I now kinda regret. It aged quite nicely, particularly around the arms, and didn't seem to stay glossy for long. I didn't like the non-zipped inner pockets though. Pricewise in the UK the Schott's nearing Aero territory...
I had the Belstaff Panther, which is the fashion equivalent of the Trialmaster, but the Panther now retails at £1,200 or about $1,900, so that Trialmaster is supercheap. The Belstaff pictures make the leather look very thin though, and nowhere near as robust or well-made as the Lewis.
If I...
I really like the Belstaff Che Guevara wax jacket. http://www.lineafashion.com/store/mens-belstaff-jackets/belstaff-new-che-guevara-mens-replica-jacket-10085.html.
Of the four Belstaffs I had before I discovered Aero, this is the only one I've kept. It's quite a heavy weight of cotton and...
Where do you think Aero got the inspiration for their linings from? :eeek:
Actually, that takes me back to my formative years, when even the guys liked BCR, although they'd never admit it now. Happy days!
I had the LHB in cordovan and didn't notice any bleed. I also have the HWM in cordovan and had a little rubbing off on the inside collar, but I've rubbed that a lot with a dry cloth and it seems to have stopped.
I'm getting a Stockman in cordovan in two weeks, so I guess what I'm saying is...
It's so easy to get carried away, but I second smoz in keeping it simple on your first order. I ordered quite a few relatively basic mods on my first order, an LHB, then unfortunately after all the fuss, 3 months wait and 2 months wearing I decided I didn't like the long zip style after all, so...
Good. I'll be in Germany next month and was hoping to take an Aero. My experiences of October holidays in Bavaria is that it's often quite warm during the day, so we're hoping for cool and fresh this time.
As the Barnstormer length is not dissimilar to the Cheyenne or Stockman, it would be interesting to know if they also have open hems. I'm awaiting delivery of a Stockman which I think is normally longer than the Barnstormer and asked for a cord hem on that and no-one said it wasn't normally...
If it's any consolation, much over-hyped (and over-priced) Belstaff have increased the price of their flagship Panther by over 20% to £1,200.
Aero's equivalent and infinitely superior Barnstormer isn't much more than half that.
While we're on, Holly, are any more new styles coming out...
I was wondering what new stuff Aero might be coming up with this Autumn/Fall, but the subtlety of this description passed me by until now. It does nothing for me, but should appeal to those looking for a slim fitting jacket.
Graemsay, thanks for the info. Nice story.
Edward, the colour on that Bootlegger is fabulous. Is that a real photo of you wearing it or some advert shot? I hope my cordovan HWM and Stockman look half as good.
