Maybe I should be directing this to COW...but I just picked up a vintage 1940s German leather jacket yesterday. It's kind of long-ish (maybe like an aviator jacket?) but it has a belted back, and the leather is in pretty good shape. I think it's goatskin or maybe lambskin, but it's hard to...
OK, daylight photos (what a difference it makes!):
I tried to get a closeup of the felt for Matt Deckard, but I'm not sure I was successful:
but I think you can see the general texture of the felt in the other pictures anyway.
I have a vintage Open Road, and a vintage Stratoliner (but I think the Open road is much older).
I didn't do anything to the shape of either hat; this is the way they came. The Open Road is a Royal Stetson Deluxe, as the Stratoliner is just a Royal Stetson. The Open Road's crown is over...
I just got a vintage Resistol in the mail today. I got with a BIN on eBay that was ridiculously low, so I was not prepared for what I was to receive.
First, the box is maybe the nicest hat box I've got. Two leather straps: one across the top, another on the side for easy carrying. Good...
I used Sony Imagestation. I tried it on another website a month or two ago, and everyone said they couldn't see anything I was posting, so I never messed with it again. ah well.
Thanks for the effort, though...! I'm glad I can post stuff myself, now! Because I have another thread to start...
I only buy my size...if I'm not going to wear it, might as well give it to someone who will. I don't even really want to have that big of a collection anymore - the bigger your collection is, the less each hat gets worn, and there are some of you poor suckers out there who got NO hats. So I'd...
I have a brown Lee which is beat up, soiled, and has a little hole in the crown...no liner...and I have to admit, it's one of the top ten hats I wear just because it has a lot of character. And if I'm going a little casual, it's a great, lived-in type of hat. The felt quality is really nice -...
The Coen Brothers' The Man Who Wasn't There is one of my favorite period movies...when the Coen Brothers do a period, in my opinion, they do it RIGHT. I know I wasn't there, obviously, but for me, their films really capture the essence of the periods they're doing, with none of the . They also...
Thanks! I haven't really been around here much lately...in a week or two I'll try to post some pics of my favorite lids (the ones i would not part with for any money in the world).
Maybe it's just the big size. I hadn't been on eBay for a while until last week, and I noticed that just in general, the pickins are kinda slim, hat-wise.
