Another reason that particular Borsalino is so special to me is that the doctors let me take in to the C-section when my son was born:
just made me wrap it up.
here's one of my other favorite Borsailnos. It was NOS, actually indentical in every possible detail to the one above, liner...
40s d/b blue wool gabardine, the boy:
3-piece d/b gabardine mocha pinstripe, the Ambassador Hotel:
and (not really applicable in the suit section, but ah well)
a 40s wool overcoat. I had this sized down from a 42 to a 38. but my tailor was awesome (she retired, of course):
I've...
Here are a few of my favorites, though these are not neceesarily the best photos.
30s 3-piece tweed:
40s 3-piece gabardine (with a female fan):
40s gabardine 2-piece:
summerweight late 40s greyish yellowish plaid (and NOS grey Borsalino):
last year's New Year's...
Here is my other favorite, also a Borsalino (NOS, at the time - now one of the dirstiest hats I own).
I'm in upstate NY.
Also one of my favorite suits, for sure. 40s gabardine.
Wearing Aldens because that's what you need to wear if you're going to visit the farm.
This and my new Borsalino...
color footage sounds great.
MK, I've sent you some screen caps.
you know, there is a color film from the mid to late 40s which was basically a big fashion show - I'm trying to think of the name.
The Canadian Stetsons were made in a Stetson factory in Brockville, Ontario. Basically, there was an already-existing hat company up there called Wolthausen Hat Corporation, which started up in 1904. In 1935, JB Stetson (Canada) bought the cmpany and started making Stetson hats out of the...
Well, I live in Mesa, Arizona - and it's pretty much hot here all the time. last week, we had three 111-degree days in a row. Somehow, the issue of which hat I wear still falls to which hat will go with what I'm wearing. I have an old Stetson Medalist panama which is starting to fall apart...
ha!
that's one I've never gotten.
I also have some Elvis Costello-style vintage glasses, but I can only afford to have one pair at a time - my lenses are too expensive.
I will keep it in mind.
buddy holly is awesome. When I don't wear a suit live, I wear a lot of 40s casual clothes, but I get the Buddy Holly thing all the time (of course, I also get Marty McFly a lot...not too sure why, though I'm lanky like Crispin Glover).
I've played a couple of the last...
Thanks!
Yeah, I'm fortunate to have gotten as much stuff as I have. I just picked up a sweet 1940s WFL drum set - a snare, a 13" tom, and a 26" bass drum in black and gold duco - for $350! when you see that on the Buy It Now, you pounce! I of course prefer the vintage recording gear, and...
Thanks. Glad to be posting again.
You know how long it's been since I last posted? Well, that was the last time I had a few days off. So you can imagine how crzay the studio has been.
I have a few more days off this week before I have to start another group - I can do those suit photos...
That Open Road is awesome. I'm jealous in one big way: Pomeroy's is still in business, here in Mesa, in the same building they've always been in, and that's who tailors my suits. How cool is that? I only have one hat that I know the shop it came from, and that's the Ambassador Hotel in LA.
I took a few indoors, a few outdoors. I don't know if the photos do it justice. But the felt is amazing. It was hard to get good photos, as my wife is napping, so I took some myself. I didn't fuss with the color - the photos are pretty accurate, so I left them as-is.
what it looks...
Yeah, neither of my Playboys have had liners either, though I have seen a few on eBay that did have liners. All had really nice felt.
By the way, coincidentally, that Borsalino I got arrived today - and if I'd known how nice it was, I'd have paid $400 for it.
I have a lot of hats, some quite...
Tony,
Nice lids man! I noticed you picked up a Playboy recently too. How's the felt on that? I've had two, and they were pretty different.
Yeah, I saw the other Borsalino, and bid on it, but when I got outbid in the $56 range, I decided to concentrate my efforts on the brown one so I...
