Update
To update this thread - my original Maxwell developed a crease across the back for some unknown reason, so Aero kindly agreed to a complete remake. I think the original will be coming up for sale, so should be a bargain for someone less fussy than me.:o
As well as that, it turned out...
I see where you're coming from, Worf. It seems to be basically a Stockman/Cheyenne/VDR sibling, but with a more interesting HB back.
That's good enough for me, though, as I like that simple style and this jazzes it up a little.
Ok, Otter, here ye go. My camera's not really up to this, but I've done what I can. I've darkened the second pic and increased the contrast so that you can see the pattern better. WaldeS is written next to the leather pull, but you can't really see it with the naked eye, it's so subtle...
My latest acquisition arrived today, an Aero Pre-War Irvin, size 40. standard lengths. I've no real interest in accuracy, but gather from comments on here from those much more knowledgeable that Aero has upped their game on their sheepskins, so I'm happy enough with that.
There's obviously...
Fanch, like you, I've had a long and winding road to get the sizing something I'm happier with. I've traded in 3 jackets now, 2 of which I wasn't happy with the fit, so that's over £1,000 ($1,600) I might as well have set fire to and at least kept warm for a few seconds.
For me, the...
Thanks again for the kind words, guys.
Dr.Seuss, I have nothing at all against the Teamster, as for a long time it was my favourite jacket. I got two Stockmans after the Teamster and they came to be my go-to longer jacket simply because of their pure simplicity of cut and look and also...
Thanks guys. Schitzo, there are no mods at all. The length is what I thought was standard. Maybe most others have longer than standard as I think it sells more in the US, where I believe the Thurston spec is longer by default.
My latest acquisition arrived yesterday - Aero Maxwell, black FQHH, 40", no mods, made by Julie, who's done 4 of my jackets now. The lining is just a cheap offcut I chose when I visited the factory, but I wanted something light coloured. I had ordered a 38", but when I visited Aero and tried...
handymike, I'm similar to you (nearer 40) and went Large with no regrets. I have a medium Trucker which fits OK, but needed to go Large in the shirt and chore coat I have.
Gustin shirts are notoriously small fitting to start with, and when they're washed the first time often shrink a little...
I tried not to, but I just couldn't resist backing the new green herringbone chore coat. It'll be a nice alternative to my black one.
A man can never have enough jackets...
