    Favorite Historic Buildings or Places

I have lived most of my life in a rural area. We have nothing like the places you see daily. I have been to large cities and seen impressive buildings, but I am endlessly fascinated with beautiful things built on a huge scale. Thank you for sharing your world.

Where's all this intolerance coming from??

When we bought this house 8 years ago we decided to not sign up for cable television. I took down the antenna tower for a small construction project 2 years ago with the intention of putting it back up in a new location. The tower was in worse condition than I thought and needed to be replaced...

Once Upon a Time ... In Hollywood

On the other hand, were there any empty spinach cans in view? Or did Brad have a green cast to him brought on by his anger?

So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

Interesting. I'm not sure that Murrow would agree with one of the apostles sitting on the throne though.

"Has Johnny really nothing to satorially rebel against?", or "Is 'the look' dead?"

When it gets right down to it, I really don't care if they wish to appear in public looking like they just climbed out of bed after a tough night. We are all free to make ourselves look as slovenly as we care to. What I do take issue with is the expectation many of these same people have that...

Where's all this intolerance coming from??

^^ I shall have to purchase a few spoons to go with some ice cream cups and throw away the plastic ones so that my grandchildren learn right from wrong!

I've never understood the appeal of the elf on a shelf thing. My kids had no interest in it, so I guess I should be grateful for having been spared having to learn what it is.

"Has Johnny really nothing to satorially rebel against?", or "Is 'the look' dead?"

No one has mentioned flannel jammie pants and house slippers as day wear. We have a faction mostly of college students who favor this mode of dress for pretty much any occasion. Also, a prohibition on the use of a comb or hairbrush seems to be involved. Along with irregular bathing habits. It's...

The Era -- Day By Day

The digital clock has ruined the alarm clock ticking in a plain box as an element of suspense in movies nowadays. Who says newer is better.

I'm not a Hudson pilot, but I'd swing in anyway.

What was the last TV show you watched?

We've had this problem as well. I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth continuing to pay for.

Once Upon a Time ... In Hollywood

I believe any difference in sheet metal damage between the two was likely from Hollywood effects. There were several Lincoln owners around my home town and I was occasionally able to hitch a ride in one. Thin flexible sheet metal was not an impression I was left with.

Simmer down Trenchy. You're going to give yourself the vapors over a borrowed computer? Life's too short.

What was the last TV show you watched?

1st episode of season 3 of "Goliath". We enjoyed the first two seasons, but Billy Bob may get one more chance/episode and then unless it improves I'm done. Weirdness a la the last season of "Mad Men". Disappointing.

Where's all this intolerance coming from??

I was aghast to see a package of ice cream cups in the store freezer with plastic baby tongue depressors. Is nothing sacred anymore?

So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

Aldi's stores made cashiers memorize prices early on. It was really quite amazing to watch them ring up a large order. I haven't seen anybody in a store with a pricing gun for years.

    Families of the Lounge

^^^ Wonderful. My youngest son became fascinated with the nutcrackers at a young age. None of his are really any brand or famous maker, but even though he is now grown I think he still would be disappointed if I didn't find a new one each year.

    The "Annoying Phrase" Thread

Related to that, has anybody really ever been persuaded to purchase a product because its "price point" is $39.99 and not the outrageous amount of 40 bucks? I've seen car dealers with newspaper ads where every vehicle is priced at $XX999.95. This foolishness alone makes me less, not more likely...

    The "Annoying Phrase" Thread

"Where the rubber meets the road." Painting with a very broad brush here, but many times uttered by someone who would struggle to change a flat tire.
