    Cleaning a white linen suit...

Thank you everyone for your comments! I brought the jacket back to the tailors and they are adding some fusing underneath the rip to hopefully save it from further damage. The rip is only about a 1/4" long and not at a seam but rather it would appear due to a general weakness in the fabric. I...

documenting a jacket I just sold to japan...

It's certainly possible. What makes you think so specifically? Are there many examples of what typified a german cut of the era anywhere else throughout the world? It -somewhat- reminds me of the imagery from FP1 Doesn't Answer featuring Conrad Veidt....

documenting a jacket I just sold to japan...

I don't have any information on it and there's no tags anywhere on it, but damn cool, huh!? :) Sad to sell it but it's just too small for me.

    Cleaning a white linen suit...

Soooo here's the suit, after being fully cleaned and tailored. I went to these two great old italian tailors. They really did a bang up job - they even fixed the shredding inside collar area for free! They said, if I was going to a wedding, they couldn't have me looking like a bum...! haha...

I really feel that both boots are of extremely high quality. But White's construction stands alone.

    Why leather soled dress shoes?

Anyone know the history of these type of rubber soles? Are they an offshoot of a cleat? I have a pair of JCrew brown suede wingtips with these soles and have noticed Ralph Lauren uses these soles too. Any info? [huh]

    Why leather soled dress shoes?

I often have thought that one thing about the golden era we would probably all find most striking if we were to travel back in time, is the sound of everyone walking.

    White's Semi-dress Boots..

I'm a 9D in a regular shoe. In White's I'm a 8.5E, but can just fit their D too. I don't prefer the double sole personally. I am planning of having my single leather soled White's rubber soled with Cat's Paws, but was putting it off. I wear these almost every day and don't want to send...

    Got Tiki?

    Got Tiki?

Did anything "tiki" in a modern sense exist prior to WW2? I thought primarily soldiers stationed in the Pacific brought this back to America in the post-war years...?

The Demise of the Summer Suit

Excellent suit Paddy! I'd love to see some more examples of vintage summer suits that were not done in lighter colors. I think darker colors could be worn more often and wouldn't show dirt as quickly, even if they attract heat rather than deflect it (or so the old wives tale says.)

Selling off my last 2 fedoras

Well I think if you shouldn't put too much weight in other peoples opinions - what if they're just saying it to get their hands on your stuff! (kidding! or am I..?) But on the other hand, I believe I understand your situation. I am a collector by way of my genetics and love to expand my mind...
