I'm curious why Julie Leitch, who's a highly experienced machinist, probably of long standing at Aero, chose to be one of the very few who didn't desert the Calders and move on to ostensibly secure employment at AL.
At that point, given the mass departures and financial mess, it must have...
Good to see it back up, as it's the debate and further investigation that makes this so interesting. I wonder when we'll get to the explanation, assuming there is one, of how the whole storse thing was carried out, including where the windfall income ended up. And was that part of the £194k?
Maybe the name was taken before as a plan B, but when was it first staffed with machinists, and were these first staff the ex-Aero deserters?
And did the website with designs go live only after the patterns were copied?
Actually, thinking back to the creation of AL, didn't it come about solely with the mass exodus of Aero staff once the game was up. And if I'm not mistaken one of the reasons given for this mass exodus was along the lines that the staff didn't want to work for KC for whatever reason.
I was under the impression that AL was simply a vehicle created by WL, with the backing of SA, when he engineered the split from Aero. I'm not aware that AL existed beforehand, or we'd surely have been talking about them on this forum before the Aero debacle of September 2012.
Isn't AL just a front for WL? If it wasn't for WL there would be no AL.
From tonight's evidence, it seems AS grassed on KC to WL, thus betraying the trust of being appointed Company Secretary. Nice.
And this £50k that was flogged on eBay, that must take the tally to £250k, plus...
Good point. It's even worse in that she could have been producing profit-making jackets in that time and reducing what was already a large backlog of orders. This thing just gets worse the more we hear.
Tropicalbob, I suppose the theory was that even small amounts of free money is better than no free money at all, especially when you didn't need to work for it.
As with "he of 108 jackets", there seems to more to the Iron Heart connection than we're being told.
I remember IH were all gung-ho about Aero on their forum until KC came back, then they dropped all mention completely, even the separate thread. That was replaced by lots of love for AL.
The...
Having said that, I was in Flagstaff, AZ last summer and was surprised how cool it was, but I gather it sits quite high. We felt we could easily have worn a jacket at night, but didn't have one.
Apart from that, I've bought my popcorn and am patiently waiting for tonight's installment...
Cripes. Well investigated, Fanch. Maybe he was building up AL stock as part of keeping his hand in...
There's more to this than meets the eye. I also wonder if any pay he got for these "108" jackets went through the company books, was he paid cash in hand, did he pay tax on that income etc etc?
So this guy who made 108 jackets when not an employee, did he get paid for doing that and did the sales go through the Aero books? That's about £60k on top of the £200k.
Or is this another scam of some sort that we weren't aware of? If not an employee he shouldn't have been paid, but why...
I'm curious as to whether or not Aero can sue to recover any of the money they've undoubtedly lost because of all this.
And are we to assume that this was all carried out by the ex-MD alone over umpteen years without anyone else on the staff being involved at all? Seems unlikely.
And given...
I'm seeing Harrison Ford as Ken, Keanu Reeves as Denny, Scarlett Johansen as Holly and Kiefer Sutherland as the dogged reporter Sloan. I'll leave it to others to suggest the villain of the piece.
Congrats. Like you say, classic, understated and timeless. Looks great on you. I just love opening the box, smelling the FQHH and trying on the jacket for the first time.
I can't imagine they'd put up the storse, as who would want to buy that? I had an HWM that was apparently a total mixture, not that I knew, but Ken sussed it out quickly, and I wouldn't ever want to be reminded of the whole carry-on again.
I thought there were around a hundred proper jackets...
