:noidea:
Alan,
I can't get this formula to work for me. I measured one of my custom hats from the inside of the sweatband to the inside of the sweatband. The measurements were 8.25" x 6.25" divided by 2 = 25.78". This measurement is much larger than the known measurement of the sweatband...
Great idea for a thread Alan!
Here is one of mine that isn't really very artistic but is at least reasonably rare. It also happens to be the only sweatband picture I have easy access to at the moment!
I'm an "O'N" myself and have had the computer system denial too! Very frustrating.
I don't have any suggestions for repairing your hats but I'm sure some of the pros here will be able to help. Good luck with your hats.
Welcome to the Lounge DanO!
Dave,
I think Texas Hat Store hats were made by Beaver Brand hats. A picture of the inside would help identify it. They usually had a gold size tag and distinctive font on the sweatband if it was made by Beaver Brand. I have a few Beaver Brand hats and they are nice.
When I first saw your...
Josh,
Great buy on that Stetson with the ventilated hat liner. Very classy looking hat! Even though it is not even close to my size I almost bid on it just to see it in person!
You are welcome!
It seems the sizing has carried over to the new Resistols and Stetsons too. A new Resistol 7 1/2 fits me very nicely and a new Stetson 7 1/2 is a tad large.
One other note (and this may just be pure luck) but it seems I have run across more long ovals in vintage Resistols than...
I agree. To me, it looks like a 50's sweatband with a 60's size tag.
I put a low bid on it mainly just for the case but was outbid. If the mold cleaned up that would have been great too but I wasn't counting on it. It looks like it has penetrated the felt pretty deep. I still think somebody...
Richard,
I'm in between sizes and a long oval. My head measurement that I use for my custom hats is 23 3/8" long oval. I have found that my vintage Resistols run a little smaller in size when compared to my vintage Stetsons.
For example, normally a vintage Stetson 7 3/8 will fit me a tad tight...
Josh,
I bought one of these Panama Open Roads last year or maybe the year before from Mr. Meyer. My sweatband is real leather too but doesn't have Open Road stamped on the sweatband. I wish it did. Looks nice in the pictures.
I'm a long oval and in between sizes too. I bought the larger...
That makes sense. It is referring to the felt finish not the dimensions and crease style of the hat. It appears that Resistol like to name their felt finishes after animals (Kitten, Panda, etc.) and their hat styles after cities or locations (San Antonio, Pecos, Waco, Alamo, Deming, etc.).
