I'm a big fan of the Wanderer too. I don't have a vintage one but I have had Art Fawcett make me several of them. It is my favorite style and width of ribbon. I'd love to have a new one from Stetson if they are similar in quality to their new Premiere Stratoliners.
That is why I prefer Ladd's fedora. The upturned brim makes Indy's hat appear too tight. At least to me it does because when I force a hat on that is too small the brim will turn up in a similar manner.
Thanks Ed. I really like it. I'm looking forward to wearing it this summer.
I didn't even realize it was the one in the VS banner until I was reading this thread this morning!
Art Fawcett offers a felt called "Natural". I don't know if it truly is natural or a dyed color though. You might ask Art or post the question in his thread. It is a Winchester felt. I have one and it is more of a darker gray than what I would consider a Silverbelly color. It is a very nice...
Wow, that does make the felt look blue! It is almost like the blue of the ribbon reflects on to the felt.
I have one in Art Fawcett's lightweight black cherry. Art put a basic Open Road style ribbon on mine but the bow keeper is a dark shade of maroon. Just that little bit of maroon changes the...
That hat might have been an intentional "mistake" by a disgruntled employee. I can't imagine it getting out of the factory with all those mistakes. I think it is great though. I wouldn't give it back either if I were you!
Marlin, great job! I really like the body of that hat. Looks like a very nice weave.
I just can't understand why these companies go to the trouble of making a nice hat and then put a cheap sweatband in it. They go cheap on the only part that actually touches your head! I know it has to do with...
Thanks Lando. That is a great color combination. I know what you mean about the Black Cherry color. It looks black in low light but put it against another color or take it outside and it totally changes. It is one of my favorite colors. Tim did a great job on that one!
Found this article while researching Vicuna wool. I never realized it was that valuable!

If you have a picture of the hat you want to reproduce then most of the hatters here can do an exact reproduction of it. Art Fawcett (Vintage Silohouettes) as done that for me on numerous hats. He also has a wide selection of colors and felt quality. I can't think of any new production hats I...
I have seen pictures of Alan's hat and it is beautiful. I just never really thought Vicuna was similar to standard wool. It will be interesting to hear his response. Thanks.
Steve,
I have never held a Vicuna hat. I would think Vicuna wool would be a finer felt than regular wool. Is that correct or is the difference in how the hat is manufactured?
