From what I have been told by multiple dealers Vanson no longer gets their leather from the tannery that made the comp weight leather that we all love. Vanson has struggled in recent years to get a comp weight that is similar to the comp weight of old. Some leather has come in too heavy and...
I've owned Vanson, Langlitz, Aero and Lost Worlds... For pure motorcycles riding you can't beat a Vanson. Not only is it the most cost effective, but I personally think it is the most rider friendly. I know people will say that Langlitz is custom made to be comfortable on the bike, but I've...
Same here... The first real nice leather jacket I ever purchased was a Vanson Highwayman. Before that all I knew was Wilson Leather fashion jackets, and First Manufacturing for riding. Then I discovered Vanson and it totally changed my understanding of quality, fit, protection, etc. I purchased...
I completely understand that (unfortunately) we live in a world where integrity doesn't exist for a lot of people. But I want to hope that if someone found the jacket at the airport that they'd turn it in to airport authorities. At least that is what I'd do, and I think a lot of people here on...
Ton and AeroFan
I remeasured the J23 and this is what I got (laying flat on table with the zipper zipped all the way up).
P2P: 24"
Shoulders (straight across the back): 19.75"
Sleeve (straight down from shoulder seam to end of cuff): 26"
Waist (straight across where the bottom of the belt...
The bike is tucked away for winter storage so I couldn't tell you exactly. The jacket seems to allow for good reach horizontally (as if you were hugging yourself), but it does appear to have limited mobility vertically (raising your arms up). My old Langlitz had superior reach upward due to the...
The only thing I don't like about the zipper is that where the wire bends around it is really sharp. I'm concerned of scratching the leather, or cutting my finger. My wife does some leather working, so I'm gonna have her wrap the wire in leather to avoid getting cut.
Randy,
No problem, Here's a couple of pics. When I ordered my jacket I asked about the zipper and was given the option of the smaller standard zipper, or a heavier (I think #10 zipper). Since I hated the small zipper on the Aero J106, I opted for the larger zipper. And I am glad I did.
Since...
I greatly appreciate the kind words and the in-put regarding size. It seems like everyone who sees me in the jacket agrees that this is the right size. I never thought I'd ever spend this much money on a jacket (I saved for quite a while and it was a tough pill to swallow), but I am glad I...
This is the 4th cross-zip that I’ve attempted to do a detachable fur collar on. This by far is the nicest looking. I couldn’t ask for more style / appearance wise. I’m really happy with this jacket. I should have ordered the belt. Gonna contact Stuart and order one.
Thanks everyone! I have been going back and forth on the fit. I wonder if I should have sized down but my wife says this looks good. Sounds like everyone agrees that the fit is good.
It's been quite the journey searching for a cross-zip style jacket. I was just about to give up when I decided to order a Lost Worlds J23. It is a stock size 46 (most of my jackets are 42 or 44), in 3.5oz Horsehide with the larger #10 main zip. Overall, I think the jacket fits really well. I...
Brian makes great boots but they're about $1350. That’s almost $400 more. The Road Champs’ price is tough enough to swallow, I don’t know if I can spring for the Clubs.
Thanks for the reply. I wear 10.5D in Red Wing Iron Rangers. I wish they came in "c" width but having the ability to lace them up helps so they're not too big. The guys at Mr. Freedom said that the same size in their Road Champs should work, so that's what I'm on the waitlist for. Since then I...
I am officially on the Road Champs waitlist but have a question... Do the Road Champs fit wide? I have narrow feet (“c” width) and am afraid that the RC’s will be too wide and therefore slip too much. I almost bought a pair of Lofgren engineer boots from Standard and Strange but was informed by...
