Difference between the Stetson Stratoliner and The Open Road
I have an Open Road that has "Royal Stetson" on the sweatband and "Royal De Luxe Stetson" on the liner. I think they are the same thing. Edit: I take that back. They aren't the same thing. I think I just have an anomaly. -
Western, anyone?
You wouldn't like it. It only has a 3" brim :) Very similar to an Open Road but has a higher crown, raw edge and a western two cord ribbon. -

I had an older liner cleaned by my local dry cleaners. I was amazed at how good it looked after they finished with it. This was a small dry cleaners and the owner cleaned it himself. He told me he treated it like he would have treated a fancy silk scarf. Might be worth a try if you can find a... -

The Stetson One-Hundred "100"
I have a 1950's Stetson 100 too and the most notable difference between the two of them is the sweatband. The sweatband on the older one is a much softer and more elegant sweatband. -

Thanks. I thought it was interesting that the hat still cost $100.00 in the mid to late 1960's. I believe they first started making these in the early 1950's and the price stayed the same for over 10 years. -

Bob, sorry to hear about your problems. I have an early Mink and Black Premiere Stratoliner. They both were easy to crease with a little steam. Moose River Hat
I have a silverbelly Moose River I bought about 2 years ago. It seems to be the exact same hat as the newer Stetson Stratoliner (not the open crown Premiere version) except it does not have a brim binding. The felt feels like it may be a little thicker too. -

Harv, the Kangaroo colored ribbon looks great with that felt. I prefer a more tone on tone ribbon combination compared to a very contrasting ribbon and felt...if that makes any sense! -
