That red just defies my description - it's like the grey/blue/green collar on my B-15D as that is a curious blend of tank grey and blue with a hint of turquoise but it's so rich and looks fantastic as it tones in with the slate grey knits and the sage green nylon, but looks distinct on its own...
Oops! Just seen the new bonafide thread on the red MA-1 - and you put it up so fast, HPA!
Sorry to add my last comment here.
Back to the original subject of the A1....!
Unfortunately, I only know of my own experience in the sizing of medium-sized Buzz jackets around my own size (40/42R chest) and how they fit me. I really wish I could help you, Butte!
If you're dead set on the Scorpion jacket, I'd send Charles a PM and try to work out a size for you - and ask...
I'm doing well, thanks, Big J! This has been the busiest year of my life and has been full-on since Easter - which is when we bought a house outside of Toronto in the country (thus having to sell our house in the city toot sweet! Work and stress to the Power 20! But we did it, thank God!) and...
A few years ago I replaced my Buzz L2 (sage green) for the blue L2-A and, as much as the other was great, I think the blue is amazing and I'm glad I pulled the trigger on it. Nothing says SAC like that very particular blue nylon! It's different and is a cool and classy colour and looks great...
I see that it has the same zips as my B-15D (1952 version in sage green) and they are quite simply the best and most robust zips I've yet come across. I love mine!
I'll be putting up a thread on that BR jacket in the new year - the text is done and the photos too - just need some fit photos (I...
Here's the Wild Jerry version - for completeness' sakes ..

I know that Charles has been battling with his health this year on the home front plus has been having staff issues at work of late. I wouldn't take anything...
If memory serves, the red MA-1 that Buzz Rickson released in the past (10 years ago?) had Lockheed insignia on it and a name tag and said SCORPION on the back and call numbers in a black military stencil.
There was also a version that had WILD JERRY on the pilot name tag - which I didn't like so...
Hey Charles,
Any chance of a review of this rare and unusual beauty?

I originally saw it in an old Buzz catalogue (2007?) that you kindly sent me a few years ago - and now it's back! Would love to...
And then there is Roberto Bandecca at www.italianpatchmaker.it
He did work for Red Tails and has done numerous leather incised/painted and "aged" patches for me and his work is exemplary.
It’s amazing how it manages that, isn’t it?! I’d much rather wear that at an office function than a sports jacket or whatever. Pair it carefully with good shoes, shirt and trousers and you’re all set!
That may indeed be so for someone like Andrea Coor or Karen Gillan! That I get.
But ... me? Erm, hardly. I use Factor 80 on holiday. I'd use Factor 100 but that's better known as a bandage. Not a good look. And the glare off my legs could burn peoples' retinas. They probably see a blinding flash...
Oh, I hear you ... would love to see some of those...
And it's funny but first comes the patch - then the jacket to place it on! Seldom the other way around for me!
And I've just seen the nicest vintage and original bomb group patch of my favourite squadron ... <gulp>.
I'm just not cool enough to rock a tattoo. I don't have the hunky build and I have that Celtic skin that's so white, my legs are almost an iridescent silver/blue in winter! Heck, I'm the guy who starts to burn when it stops raining! Not a particularly cool canvas for that. And I'd be too worried...
It's nice to see the evolution of this jacket, Charles.
My friend got one of the original jackets around 1989/1990 (if memory serves) as he was a big fan of the Battle of Britain movie and it looked just like the one seen well in that - but it was steer hide back then and was I never quite was a...
To your original question of what pants look good with an A2, I must confess that I couldn't opt for chinos that look too much "pinks and greens" as I'd fear I'd be looking "in costume" as my girlfriend calls it. And I get that. I hear "You know World War Two finished, right?" enough - so I...
Here's a painted-on-leather one I just saw - marked as sold - but still, a very fine example and different to the usual styles.

Like you, Big J, I find the whole...
Hard to believe that you let your ANJ-4 go! Wow.
But then again, a B-6 is so much more practical for the UK climate - and I have just had my ELC RW B-6 on this morning and it's -4C and it scoffed at the cold northerly breeze and the collar was up and secured with the leather strap, and it's so...
