^ No doubt something like that is the explanation in this case.
Last spring I picked up a genuine reefer and it had a full set of brass/gold buttons and two cloth loops sewn on each shoulder for the attachment of epaulets. In fact, I'd suggest that's the way to tell a peacoat from a reefer: the...
"Marlowe" starring James Garner. A good film overall, although in the first half Garner/Marlowe seems to be driving the story, while in the second half the character is along as a passenger, but that probably has more to do with the original novel than the production. I think this film, along...
Yes, please listen to this. Stick your tongue out or something, anything other than the "cop/gangbanger staredown" look. And don't stand at "attention" unless you're in the military. Even then, don't. Most people look ridiculous standing like that.
Don't assume all the "originals" fit tight. Pilots came in all sizes and weights, plus the jackets were often worn over several layers of flight clothing, not just a T-shirt.
Here's more pics of that jacket. Some extra zippers, but looks to be of good quality.
I know what you're saying, but for the period it was active that link was viewable by everyone on the planet with internet access, while your records are only enjoyable by you!
Last night I tried to watch "The Shooting Party" but gave up after 15 or 20 minutes. I like James Mason and Edward Fox, but I could see the movie was probably going to be another boring British costume drama. I then put in "The Landlord" starring Beau Bridges. That I got through, but only the...
That's why I don't watch films at the cinema anymore - got enough hearing damage already, thanks! But I'm glad (and a little surprised) this movie is good since Hollywood hits and misses. This should help Buzz and WWII Impressions sell lots of jackets. Now we need a nylon movie... and not by...
I used to fly gliders when I was a youth and even in a hot, muggy Canadian summer when the temp was 30+ Celsius it was cool over 2,000 ft and I imagine it would have been cold at higher altitudes. So yes, if you're flying high enough, sheepskin would have been necessary year 'round.
Last night I watched "The Big Sleep", the British version from the 70s with Robert Mitchum. I didn't expect much, given that everyone here and everywhere gives this film a bad review, but I thought it was excellent in almost every respect. It's not perfect, but it definitely doesn't it's bad...
That's the best version in my opinion. Although Mitchum is older than the book calls for, he had that world-weary thing going on that nobody every equaled. I find the old black and white versions, however good, to be trying too hard to be tough and all the actors look and act the same.
I...
Let us not forget that Lucas was heavily involved in Raiders of the Lost Ark, in fact I believe he was the prime mover behind it. Señor Spielbergo, however, got more of a career boost from that film than Lucas.
^ Toronto, eh? I'm trying to figure out where you took that photo.
Awesome coat. I looked for a kersey wool one last year but never found one that seemed worth buying. Consider yourself lucky!

Keep in mind they look a lot more "military" than pea coats.
I think we're looking at another brutal winter coming up. That would make two in a row, without a nice warm summer in between to make it easier to take.
