I saw one of Nate's jackets on e-Bay recently, brand new, and it didn't look very good. I notice that Taylor's, another maker of CPD jackets, misses on some of the details. Second-hand ones show up on e-Bay quite often, but they're usually knocked to pieces or close to it. Oh well, a man's gotta...
On an unrelated note, here's some info on Alpha with a "general" telephone number listed (703-378-1420):

I watched the new film last night and I agree with you. It was mis-cast, filled with repetitive visual cliches, highlighted the wrong story elements, was difficult to make sense of (even though I'm thoroughly familiar with the book and Guiness tv series), the four main 'suspects' are never given...
This jacket's blue appears to be pretty dark, which looks good. But like you guys said, there's a small margin of error with blue. I think it looks good on police leather jackets, though.
Some disorganized thoughts...
(1) There's no point in competing head-on with Buzz and Real McCoy. It's safe to say they "own" the top end of the repro market for nylon flight jackets. Their brands are well known and they have loyal customers. I mean, when a repro company's products are as...
Getting the patterns right would probably be the biggest challenge, since fit is key to getting the 'look' right. Materials can be upgraded or downgraded to achieve a particular price point, and sewing is a skill which is widely available.

True enough about getting 50% on new jackets, although I will still take 50% on used ones just to get them out the door. I find that one I want something gone I want it gone now. I have a few jackets I don't want, good stuff but winter stuff, so I have to wait until the weather gets cold and...
Camel hair is by definition not a 'budget' cloth. E-Bay is probably your only chance and when I was watching e-Bay for camel hair polo coats (about a year ago) they used to show up regularly in all sorts of sizes and price points. The chances of finding one in a thrift store in Canada is zilch...
^ What amazing jackets. Where do you guys find them in such good condition? Lucky guys. Whenever I see a vintage Large listed it's almost always destroyed.
G1 fans can download PDFs of military documents on the jackets from the links below. The first document has details on materials specs and a series of diagrams showing how all the seams are supposed to be sewn!
