My first thought upon seeing the pics was "it's weird that the windflap is longer that the zip, it doesn't look right".
If you can do it without damaging things i would do it.

As others have said, 0.25" is negligible and probably within LW tolerance range.
The J-23 lacks underam gussets but the full action back is very good and the forward reach is great.
I would order the same sleeve length.
A friend of mine had a 3cm clean cut on the back of an old leather jacket, a bit like if it had been stabbed, i glued a patch of leather over the cut from the inside with leather glue, it is honestly almost invisible and still holding strong 5 years later.

The LaBrea has wide shoulders for its size, and my new Leathertogs which is based on an original has a very similar shoulder design.
To me it looks like an hourglass shape, but where the narrow part would be at the pits, and the widest at the shoulders and the hips. It's a weird...
