I couldn't resist the price reduction, so I pulled the trigger on the jerky horsehide Dirt Rider. It arrived while I was out riding my scooter. Guess I'll try it out tomorrow.
I like the hide & it feels a stout as my vintage Fidelity cafe racer. Will try to get some photos up tomorrow as well...
I've searched & only came up with undyed beaver fur for "Clear Beaver", never found anything stating it was exclusively beaver belly fur....why I thought it had that tannish color because it had fur from other parts in addition to belly. If anybody has documented evidence of the belly fur claim...
Leather loses oils when water evaporates & the pores start to close up but this all depends on how the leather is treated & finished.
Leather shrinks some when these pores start to close up. Replacing these lost oils via a leather condition gets the pores to open back up.
All this is very true...
I got a US Wings Indy in Goat used off ebay that is a very nice jacket for the price.
If I was looking for a knock-around A2, that Goatskin A-2 2000 at $195 looks interesting to me...I'm not about authenticity at all....
Your statement below, "I like the 1 inch width and contrast with the hat color", had me thinking you were not looking for thin ribbons.
OR/Strat/Alessandria ribbons are about 3/8"(4 ligne).
1" is more mid-ribbon size....IMHO

As far as breaking in, I wear as much as possible & do exaggerated arm movements. Roll the jacket up, sit on it, unroll, roll another way, sit on it, repeat.
