Very nice! I got a 44R Dirt Rider in jerky horse. Only 2 issues for me so far, the European zipper configuration & there is a roll across my shoulders at the color. Not sure if breaking in will remove it. It is not there when jacket is unzipped.
What exactly is "jerky" horse? I know what...
Winchester is the USA source of felt bodies. HatCo makes their own in Longview, TX. Felt bodies are also available to custom hatters from over seas.
A milliner is typically associated with a designer & maker of women's hats. From Webster's dictionary = a person who designs, makes, trims, or...
Most vintage Strats are Royal grade. There are some rare Royal Deluxes out there. The Strat is intended to be a lightweight traveling felt hat per their ad campaign. I've had a Supreme grade Akubra Squatter which is their featherweight felt.
Even still, a vintage Strat is going to be dead felt...
Sure, I wear my country hats with coat & tie often, westerns too.
I wouldn't take it to black tie level but anything below is good to me but consider the source!!!!
Thanks & it is for a modern factory made hat, nice, wider sweat & high grade ribbons...
BTW, Moonstone Campdrafts are only available in the Heritage grade from Hats Direct.
Akubra would not make an Imperial grade Moonstone to protect Hats Direct's exclusivity....
Have been seeing denim vests over leather motorcycle jackets for years, wearing them to.
Never seen denim coat or jacket over leather though. I wear micro-fleece vest under my A-2s....
My pleasure & just FYI, the Heritage Silverbelly is considerably different than the Imperial Silverbelly.
Heritage is more grey where Imperial is more tan...
If I was forced to only own 1 Campdraft, it would be the Heritage Moonstone definitely....
I have a safari/outback style Akubra Riverina that has seem some serious hard wear that has been retired.
It is a 60 but stretched some to fit my 24" noggin. May have pulled back some since sitting in a box for a couple of years.
I've raised a son to 23 years of age currently but by the time I could afford good quality leathers, I realized he's probably not going to be able to wear what I leave behind some day. Hopefully, he'll sell them for a decent price...
The felting operation at Winchester is fairly about the same. All of the machinery are over a 100 years old. They keep extras for parts. Not a lot has changed or modernized.
