Done right... other than a different liner, replaced sweat and or missing tags, new ribbon (sometimes an amputated brim) there is no way to tell a hat has been cleaned or re-furbed...IF done right.

Not directly....part of the process back in the day was to remove the liner and then clean the felt. This was/is a total submersion proccess done in stoddard solvent ( petroleum distilates). During this process things like size labels, re-order tags, anything glued to the felt will come off...
Wonderfull find!! My humble guess on the lack of tags and the highly unusual liner is it was cleaned and the body of the liner replaced and sewn to the old tip. Many cleaners offering full hat cleaning and restoration did sew the liners back in. Really quite the cool liner now.......
