NEW Information on the dating....Just saw a couple of the postcards from this very set....they were used so included a postmark...1914. So they date 1914 or earlier.......

Yes, Baking Soda works great and is quite an absorbent. Works very well on wet stains as well (when they are still wet) and you will actually see the soda change color as it absorbs the stain. Is absolutely fantastic on carpet for those fresh pet stains!!!!!

You are right on the money. Another clue is the use of the silver rather than gold in the tip logo. Canadan Stetsons did that...they used silver on the sweat generally too rather than gold foil.
