One of the challenges when critiquing someone's jacket is to separate you're own personal preferences from objective observations. That's hard to do, even for serious, well trained scientists, so I expect most of us are letting our own tastes subconsciously filter or edit our observations. The...
No, it's all B15. The IDF has had some pretty cool jackets over the years, although not all of them are nice quality. I particularly like the cotton shell MA-1 jackets they had in the 1990s and early 2000s (as far as I can tell) which looked great as the cotton shell aged a bit, and were very...
Nick, what's the size of that Alpha B15 jacket, and what's your size? My sense is that these newer Alphas fit oversized. I assume yours has the removable collar.
^ That's a really great fit, in my opinion. I know how tough it is to find stuff that fits properly on a tall thin shape. The jacket is a very nice design, normally I dislike denim but that's one that would tempt me.
I'm always keeping half an eye open for a used B15 repro or knockoff. I like the faded green nylon and faded green fur B15D the best, which is clearly photographed in the Suit Up book. Has any company made that as repros? I don't think Buzz has, and Alpha's current green is a non-faded colour...
Here's a really nice looking Weintraub reproduction, looks like the wool insulation (some jackets from this company had poly insulation and those were inferior).
Here's better photos, finally. I just noticed that the stitching which forms the slot for the waist drawstring on the back of the parka is loose at both ends, so that will need to be sorted out (it's visible in the photo of the back). This parka is very impressive in real life which sadly photos...
The temperature here climbed from -5C when I got up to +5C at noon, but there's a fierce wind which is making it feel much colder and nothing is melting even though it should be.
Here's a strange and unexpected Alpha civilian N3B. The red tag on the cigarette pocket suggests a Replica Series coat. It's a shame there isn't a market for mid-level priced reproductions because this thing is clearly well made.
I'm glad you've got a parka that works for you. Getting a vintage nylon parka in "mint" condition would have cost you a lot of money. The times when guys like Atticus built up a collection of minty vintage nylon for pocket money are long in the past.
I can't find a general USAF shearling/sheepskin photo thread so I'm going to post this jacket porn here. Apologies if they've been seen already... actually, I take that back -- like real porn, if it's good it has replay value.
...and here's the woman who took those photos: Margaret Bourke-White.
Photo of the pilot's lounge, K-14, Kimpo air base, South Korea, 1954.
I regret I did not record the website from which I got this photo, but I'm sure a search will turn it up.
Someone here will know but it indicates rank. Not specific rank, but junior officer, senior officer, etc. It appears to be one thick stripe with one thin one above... is that right? It also appears the sleeves might have been shorted by an inch.
By the way, always button all the buttons!
Here's a possible thread for your jacket... actually jacket"s", because I believe you've got a bunch!

^ I suggest posting those pics of your jacket in the thread on blousons (yes, we have one here somewhere, and I don't mean flight jackets), or in another thread, and you'll get some discussion. Most members don't read this thread.
