Don't tell me this one is supposed to be the 40s one??!!! I can place all the other hairdos on the page except this one!
I like this one best.
The 60s was REALLY WEAK. *I* could do better. Same with the 20s.
No prom for me.
Didn't want to spend $$$ to hang out with people I hated and hear awful radio music, circa 1993. I stayed in and had a date with Dave Mustaine instead! lol
Congrats!
I once bought a vintage maternity top in the Salvation Army. It's not "Golden Era" -- it's more 60s, but it's still cute. Seriously, I only bought it because I thought it was a mini-dress!! It wasn't until I got it home and put it on when I realised what it was :eusa_doh...
Marion Davies & William Haines in SHOW PEOPLE (1928). This movie is made 100% perfect by the performances of these two wonderful actors! We all already know what a great comedienne Marion is! William Haines, whom I've been obsessed with for years now, is also a fabulous actor in both silents...
I agree with LolitaHaze (thanks, BTW!)
EVERYONE looks stunning! I love the time and effort you gals put into looking perfect.
*am still somewhat jealous of you gals with thick, wonderful, style-able hair!!*
And, of course, thank you to anyone else who has complimented me.
I had a dream about Daisy Buchanan two nights ago. I was in Boston, too. I'm sorry I don't remember anything else about it, but Daisy looked exactly as she does in her icon. I went to bed and had this dream shortly after I finished typing a response to her in The Steamer Trunk forum.
Nothing cute and glammy -- just records! They were a dollar each in a used record shop.
Alice Faye In Hollywood (1934-1937)
Ray Noble & His Orchestra 1929-1934
The Very Best Of Slim Whitman
The Complete Charlie Barnet Vol. 1 1935-1937
The Boswell Sisters 1932-1934...
I'm more interested in people who were famous in the 20s and 30s, too, but since we're not gonna get many names, I decided to include everyone who was in a movie in or before 1949.
In my Live Journal I tried to narrow it down to those earlier people...
Not really a retro episode, but does anyone else remember that very short-lived TV show called Hi, Honey I'm Home!?? About 1991ish?
http://imdb.com/title/tt0101116/
It involved a 50s sitcom family who was transported into modern day 1990s by the "Sitcom Relocation Program." It was corny...
I've dated a guy 16 years older than me and it was a nightmare (I was 20, he was 36.) He was a yucky, grumpy, do-as-I-say creep! My Aunt set us up in an attempt to get me away from what I liked at the time (punk music.) We only dated for 4 months.
Years later I dated someone who was 12...
And Yvonne DeCarlo and Sally Gray are gone, too!
Other than that, that list was very helpful in my quest for names of people who have debuted in a movie in or before 1949. Thanks!
I rarely watch movies made after 1942ish, but I don't mind the healthy mix TCM has to offer. This argument of whether or not TCM is "getting worse" has been going on for years. I'll admit I don't pay much attention to anything else except the movies I pre-plan to record. When the new schedule...

Decades Of Beauty: The Changing Image of Women 1890s 1990s by Mulvey & Richards was an excellent source for me when I first became interested in the vintage look. The book is neatly broken down by decade with sub-breakdowns of things like Makeup, Hair, Celebrities, Underthings, Movies...a lot...
