...as for having his hands in so many projects... I recently found at the Goodwill a Jackie Gleason orchestra LP 'Lonesome Echo' with the cover designed by Dali. I think it was made in 1955. What a collaboration...Gleason and Dali. On the back is a photo of the pair shaking hands.

One thing I can tell you is that 1940s Dali ties are highly sought after. Dali was quite the salesman and promoter (as well as the world's best surrealist artist). He wanted his name everywhere and make lots of money at the same time. Sorry I don't have much detailed info on this tie only that...
Yeah...a praying mantis. I was trying to take a photo of one when he took off and landed in a garden spider's web (my fault). That spider sure pounced on it at lightning speed. Pretty gross, isn't it?

This past Friday a first happened to me. I meet a regular group of people for happy hour down at a local Spanish restaurant/bar. I always have a nut brown ale. When the bartender came up I told her I'll have a....she finished my sentence with 'a nut brown.' That was kind of cool.
That middle one is pretty interesting. I see oil derreks at the top leading down to a refinery then storage tanks and finally to a gas station. It tells a story.
I like films based on real events (poorly made or not) that generate my interest enough to do more research on that event. I guess 300 was one of those films. I'm trying to think of any Bogart films that did that to me....nope.
When you get used to finding unique vintage ties (40s & 50s) for 25 cents it becomes mind-boggling to see how anyone would shell out $100 for a modern 'plain john' tie.
