I’ve seen ads dated 1948 for an OR in the narrow ribbon, bound edge type. Now that being said Stetson made a narrow ribbon, bound edge hat many years prior, but they did not market as a Open Road.
I see this as a star logo that is on the sloppy side. These sweatbands shrink and stretch and make it hard to tell for sure. (did I understand your question correctly?)
Stetson bought a large chunk of the Wolthausen Hat Corporation in Brockville, Ontario in 1935. This was done to avoid the stiff tariffs on USA made Stetsons.
Yes the beaver is part of it as well is the side seam on the liner, the stamping of the sweatband and it componites. Does the the Stetson logo on the top of the box show stars or maple leaf? Is the sweatband marked at the forehead position?
