The White Stripe: a hair dilemma

I think there are many things that can cause it... Bumps, burns, birthmarks, and stress among them. I've gotten Cruella deVille a few times, which is funny, but I get tired of hearing I look like Arlene Dickinson (From the popular Canadian show Dragon's Den). Aside from being redheaded with a...

The general decline in standards today

Sometimes it will come back to get you before you leave. Working as a supermarket cashier in high school, we did some pretty sneaky things to people who were rude to us: Tax the tax, press our nails into their meat, "accidentally" put holes in their bags... (Be kind to people who handle your...

Now this is more like it! - Duchess of Cambridge in Canada outfit.

Unlike her total fashion maven sister, right? (I don't understand the fuss about Pippa Middleton's 'style,' shes very quietly conservative and apparently this is explosive.) Speaking of inappropriate comparisons, the press keep hinting that Pippa and Prince Harry should get together which is...

Comments You Get When You Dress Vintage

I would've said something - anything at all - in German, like "excuse me," just so they know you understood them; They'd be mortified! I once heard a few women speaking in French about how one of my friends looked, and as soon as they said "Thank goodness no-one understands us," I leaned over...

What to do with collections you've no room for?

Have you thought about renting a storage unit? They're reasonably priced, and would satisfy keeping your things and freeing up space in your home. If there are some things that can go, but you don't want a charity to throw out, find a dealer to appraise the lot and maybe make you an offer...

The White Stripe: a hair dilemma

Bump! I thought this would be a cool thread to resurrect. I've been dying my hair since I was 15, and had not seen the natural colour again until college. I discovered a small patch over my left eye that was gray in colour (though the kind of yellowy gray that red hair turns, not that...

Does vintage clothing attract a rude/violent response?

I hear you. Very few suburbians make nasty comments to me if they do at all (Its usually "Oh em gee you look like Katy Perry") but anyone I have approached has backed down too, and I'm half the size of you lol I've had something like that happen to me! On Veteran's day, one of the elderly...

    Dita Von Teese

Bump! I'm climbing up the walls waiting for her beauty book to come out. The only information I can find has been out since last Christmas. I've signed up to her publisher's RSS feed, but I'm getting nothing, and its past mid-2011! :( Anyone else's paws ready to get this book?

    Mother-in-Law's Scathing E-mail Goes Viral

OT: You're awfully lucky. I've had two pretty bad experiences, and both "men" eventually went running home to mommy. Freddie Bourne's catering company is called Mise-en-Bouche (how clever). If you Google search for it, the website link will take you straight back to Google UK.

The Closet Door is Open - Lavender Ladies & Gents of the Golden Age of Hollywood

That I don't know! The people he slandered were all deceased at the time (pure coincidence, I'm sure ;)), so I'm guessing not. I'm definitely going to read up on that though.

Now this is more like it! - Duchess of Cambridge in Canada outfit.

You're my new favourite. I like the girl too, and I liked the Canadiana in her outfit, but those three things popped out to me too, especially the comparisons. There is no reason to compare her to Diana. Wrong, not even close.

Extreme example of getting something for nothing: Product promotion gone awry. This is so clever, its almost inspired.

Exactly! I can pop out to the mailbox looking like a troll and nobody cares lol January Jones' measurements, as given by celebies.com: 34B-24-33. Dress size 6 (US) 36 (EU). She's quite svelte!

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

They're missing out on the great sound quality of vinyl, too - and not on a repro turntable! I've got one from 1966 and the sound quality just don't compare.
