Well, that being the case I think I just have to fundamentally disagree that such a consensus can be reached on quality. Style is also fundamentally subjective.
The sticking point for me is that I haven't handled enough hats to make anything close to an objective statement, and I would argue that's probably the case for most people whose SN isn't RLK.
Also, are we including or omitting custom hats? My VS and Optimo are nicer than some of my vintage...
Alex, glad that one ended up in good hands. It love the Gay Prince styling, it's so unique, especially compared to today's modern fedoras.

Hi Qvist, I've seen the stingies you've posted in the What Hat are you Wearing Today thread, and I don't think that 2 3/4" is too broad. You might find when you first put it on that it feels big, but it should be alright proportionally on you.

Moonstone is too light, carbon is too dark. But they're both handsome colors for the fed. You might also consider the grey Henry model from Adventurebilt Europe....the shade of grey was picked based on its resemblance to the Raiders hat.

What I would offer as my own concluding thought to this thread is that, if you're looking for a "deal," you can't go wrong by saving yourself some cash and opting for a VS over an Optimo. However, having paid for and gotten a wonderful hat from Optimo, I don't feel in any way that I was "ripped...
