    My hat collection!

I think you'll find that a majority here do not wear their hats with suits on a daily basis.

The 'Golden Years' of Hat Quality & Style

Well, that being the case I think I just have to fundamentally disagree that such a consensus can be reached on quality. Style is also fundamentally subjective.

The 'Golden Years' of Hat Quality & Style

The sticking point for me is that I haven't handled enough hats to make anything close to an objective statement, and I would argue that's probably the case for most people whose SN isn't RLK. Also, are we including or omitting custom hats? My VS and Optimo are nicer than some of my vintage...

Custom V was a specific model...Lauro13 had one and there's an old ad copy floating around here somewhere...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

Alex, glad that one ended up in good hands. It love the Gay Prince styling, it's so unique, especially compared to today's modern fedoras. Denton: Nice Milan, is that from Optimo or vintage?

Hi Qvist, I've seen the stingies you've posted in the What Hat are you Wearing Today thread, and I don't think that 2 3/4" is too broad. You might find when you first put it on that it feels big, but it should be alright proportionally on you.

John Penman used to be a US distributor, but stopped carrying them. They are still available from AB Europe: http://www.adventurebiltdeluxe.com/henry.php

Moonstone is too light, carbon is too dark. But they're both handsome colors for the fed. You might also consider the grey Henry model from Adventurebilt Europe....the shade of grey was picked based on its resemblance to the Raiders hat.

Oh, it exists in Raiders of the Lost Ark. He wears a grey hat boarding the seaplane, and at the very end of the film walking through a government building (in reality, SF City Hall):

Late 50's to 1960's based on the plastic on the liner. If there's a size tag in there, the shape of the tag can also help determine the date.

Better Deal - Optimo or VS

What I would offer as my own concluding thought to this thread is that, if you're looking for a "deal," you can't go wrong by saving yourself some cash and opting for a VS over an Optimo. However, having paid for and gotten a wonderful hat from Optimo, I don't feel in any way that I was "ripped...
