I'm a materials scientist (polymer chemist) by training/trade and mismatch of materials properties is a big issue in lots of areas as they can behave very differently under the same exposure conditions.
It depends on the materials involved: the leather is an important factor (horsehide...
Thanks, much appreciated. I'm curious to see how the texture compares with both my cape jackets. It has been said the back of the A-2 resembles merino with the raised 'scars'.
I recently sold both jackets via the VLJF, but thought them worth a post here.
Perry Sportswear (of Newburgh, New York) produced two A-2 contracts from the fiscal year of 1942. The precise dating of the contracts have been discussed at different times on the forum and although the information...
Hello Everyone - I recently posted this in VLJF (see there for more images)
I recently bought an original civilian ‘A-2’ from John Chapman and have just managed to take some photos in reasonable light to show here. Some of you may have seen it before as it’s included in JC’s jacket CD. I...
ELC capeskin A-1 (size 42)

The leather hanging strap is commonly (very) off centre in Perry A-2s, see my last image.
Cheers
Ian
Hi Joel, you've seen my other post so you know the colours. I'm a tad shorter than you - 5'9" but these fit well.
The sleeves don't ride up if shoulder chest fit is good.
Inevitably, I'd like a mix: colour of the HH jacket/knits, length and weight/drape of the GS, size/height of the GS...
I had the opportunity to get the camera out today and after shooting the Perry A-2s, I photographed my Irvin, which is worn to walk the dog/build snowmen when the weather gets really cold.
This is a jacket that was originally made by Links. It is essentially in original condition, although it...
